As an experienced retail leader, the Senior Manager of New Store Implementation will oversee the project managers responsible for new store merchandising. This role ensures successful store openings and process enhancements. Through this important work, the Senior Manager of New Store Implementation impacts customer satisfaction, store profitability, and Academy's Mission. Job Description:

Education:

  • A bachelor's degree in business, retail management, merchandising, or a similar field of study, or equivalent years of related work experience is required.

Work Experiences:

  • 10+ years of in retail management, retail operations, or visual merchandising
  • 5+ years leading project teams
  • Experience opening new stores
  • Experience managing multiple concurrent projects
  • Experience in a fast-paced, complex, and ambiguous environment

Skills:

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of store operations and practices.
  • Leadership skills to inspire, lead, and manage a team of Project Managers
  • Flexibility and adaptability to pivot daily responsibilities and priorities as business needs change
  • Demonstrated track record of applying creative solutions to drive business results
  • Demonstrated ability to partner with internal and external stakeholders to deliver against goals
  • Ability to remain organized, pay attention to detail and meet critical deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with individuals at various levels, both internal and external
  • Collaborative and can gain alignment and consensus with key stakeholders on complex challenges across multiple departments
  • Manage a high-performing team of driven team members
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Vision

Responsibilities:

Essential Functions:

  • Oversee all aspects of New Store Implementation and team of Project Managers
  • Lead the new store implementation responsibilities, including New Store Openings, Building Relocations, and Store Update Projects.
  • Ensure all projects meet standards, including execution planning, external vendor relationships, communications, resources, budget, changes, risks, and other issues as they arise.
  • Create and define long-term strategies and tactics to improve new store implementation and execution.
  • Analyze and use data for decision-making insights regarding projects and improvements.
  • Analyzes the probable impact of recommendations and solutions from other business groups
  • Conducts post-implementation analysis
  • Manage resources to cover project timelines and expectations adequately

Collaboration:

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Store Operations, Real Estate, Construction, Human Resources, and Legal.
  • Collaborate with field leadership to understand each project and tailor strategies to meet business needs
  • Seek feedback from our store leaders to gain clarity on opportunities within areas of accountability
  • Stay connected to relevant market and industry trends that impact New Store Implementation and enable better decision-making for Academy initiatives

  • Willingness to travel 70% of the time
  • Able to work evenings, weekends, and Holidays as needed
