Associate Superintendent of Instruction
Salary: $152,915 – $164,456
Position Start: July 1, 2026

Matanuska-Susitna Borough School District Class Summary: Under the direction of the Superintendent, the Associate Superintendent of Instruction's primary responsibilities include the coordination, development, implementation and evaluation of the District's educational programs. This is done through a variety of activities in the areas of assessment, curriculum, instruction, and professional development. Required Qualifications:
- Alaska Type A Teaching Certificate and Type B Administrative Certificate
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a school administrator
- Ability to articulate the District's educational programs and services to various stakeholders and employee groups
- Understanding and experience with school-based curriculum, instruction, and management
- Ability to work collaboratively for the coordination of district initiatives
- Ability to implement policy and procedures
- Ability to interpret data
- Strong communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
- Maintains the necessary information which will facilitate data-driven decision making.
- Assists principals and staff in analyzing the results of student assessment.
- Coordinates implementation of curriculum with elementary and secondary schools.
- Assesses needs and develops recommendations for curriculum changes or additions.
- Works with principals to ensure effective instructional practices are exhibited by staff, and current policies and procedures reflect up to date instructional trends and approaches.
- Coordinates district wide professional development opportunities and assists in established objectives for school-based programs.
- Leads elementary and secondary efforts in the areas of MTSS, PBIS, and other school climate and culture initiatives.
- Leads district technology initiatives including but not limited to technology roadmap development and implementation.
- Supervise assigned Principals and/or Administrators and provide support for assigned school sites.
- Salary of $152,915 – $164,456 – 260-day contract
- District benefits including medical, dental, vision, and life insurance of $150,000
- State of Alaska Teachers Retirement Benefits (not a Social Security Employer)
- 36 days of personal leave and 16 days of sick leave, annually
