We are seeking a Mine Engineer to join our team and support our WA Mining Operations. This exciting opportunity offers the unique advantage of working on a Monday to Friday roster, allowing you to enjoy site-based work without the typical FIFO lifestyle. Our sites are conveniently located near Mandurah, providing a great work-life balance.
This is an exciting time to join Alcoa's Mining Operations, and this is your chance to join a highly motivated goal-oriented team.
You will provide plans and technical input to the technical services department supporting the site to meet performance targets and utilising your initiative to seek out ways of ensuring continuous improvements are made. Your focus will be on carrying out detailed analysis and ensuring alignment for development, production, and rehabilitation schedules.
Role Responsibilities will include:
Develop, implement and communicate rehabilitation schedules and plans ensuring safety and rehabilitation outcomes are met
Drive continuous improvement of rehabilitation earthworks to meet business targets and rehabilitation completion criteria
QA/QC checks of rehabilitated areas to ensure completion criteria standards are being met
Track performance to ensure targets are being achieved and alternatively, investigate the impact on the rehabilitation sequence if productivity is falling behind
Conduct ‘In field' verification of progress and compliance to plan
Fostering effective communication with stakeholders to ensure clear understanding and alignment across all levels of mine planning and scheduling
Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and regulatory changes related to mine rehabilitation

What you can bring to the role:
To play a part in our ongoing success we are seeking someone with:
Bachelor's degree in mining engineering or a related field, or equivalent industry experience
Proven experience in mine operations planning and scheduling
Strong understanding of mining operations, equipment, and processes
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to adapt quickly to a dynamic operations environment
Proficiency in mine CAD and planning software (Deswik CAD and Shed experience desired but not essential)
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Previous rehabilitation experience preferred but not essential

About the Location
Huntly is one of our two bauxite mines in Western Australia. Established in 1976 and located east of North Dandalup in WA, it is the world's second largest bauxite mine, supplying ore to Alcoa's Pinjarra alumina refinery. Bauxite ore from Alcoa's Huntly and Willowdale mines helps to produce almost half of Australia's alumina and approximately 19 per cent of Australia's aluminium.
