About the Role

Alcoa is seeking a Project Development Director to lead the study and execution of a major Critical Minerals Project, developed through an Unincorporated Joint Venture (UJV). This is a rare opportunity to shape a high-impact project from feasibility to execution, leveraging cutting-edge technology and global collaboration.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead the full lifecycle of the project from feasibility study and design to procurement, FID, and execution.  Ensuring delivery against ambitious timelines.

  • Champion the adoption and integration of innovative technologies and equipment to optimize project outcomes.

  • Develop and implement a robust execution methodology aligned with JV governance, risk thresholds, and business case objectives.

  • Drive cross-cultural collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, including global teams, providers and Alcoa's broader organisation.

  • Own the development and refinement of the business case through to Final Investment Decision (FID).

  • Report to the JV Steering Committee and functionally into Alcoa's Strategy, Business Development & Joint Ventures organization.

What you can bring to the role

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, Science, or related field.

  • Extensive experience Project or Studies Management, with proven leadership in large-scale, complex programs.

  • Deep understanding of project development, risk management, and technology deployment in operational environments.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with demonstrated cross-cultural experience.

  • Experience in managing strategic projects within publicly listed corporations.

  • Familiarity with IP management and multi-stakeholder technology development.

  • Fluent in English; with proficiency in Japanese or French being highly desirable.

  • Experience in mining, minerals processing, or manufacturing is highly regarded.

  • Preferred: Postgraduate qualifications (e.g., MBA, CPA, PhD, or Master's degree).
