We are looking for a talented Senior Learning and Development Consultant to drive growth and innovation through your commitment to excellence in learning and development.  Reporting to the Human Resources Manager at our Portland Aluminium Smelter you will develop strong partnerships across all levels of our business and use your strong influencing skills to drive and enhance learning and development initiatives across the location to benefit our employees and meet our people and company performance objectives.

As the Senior L&D Consultant you will lead a team and support the Crew Trainers in designing and implementing training packages so your collaborative and supportive leadership style will uplift your team to get the best outcomes for our Portland Smelter operations.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Implement learning and development standards at our Portland location.

  • Develop and execute the Training Needs Analysis (TNA) for the site.

  • Develop and source relevant training content and modernise training and development methods.

  • Deliver and facilitate regional leadership programs and where appropriate develop localised programs.

  • Build influential relationships with senior leaders to drive continuous improvement and engagement in L&D.

  • Monitor site-wide learning initiatives and ensure training compliance.

  • Provide strategic advice to the location HR Manager.

What you can bring to the role:

To play a part in our ongoing success we are seeking someone with:

  • Degree or Post Graduate qualification in learning and development related qualification.

  • Cert IV Workplace Assessment and Training

  • A passion for people and driven by getting the best L&D outcomes for continued future success.

  • Experienced in working within Mining or heavy industry environments where there is a strong safety focus.

  • Sound knowledge of mandated training requirements within our industry.

  • Leader in learning, gap analysis and organisational development.

  • Solid working knowledge of training systems and relevant safety legislation.

  • Ability to plan, monitor and report critical activities and the initiative to implement corrective action

Our Portland Smelter is a joint venture between Alcoa of Australia (55%), CITIC (22.5%) and Marubeni Aluminium Australia (22.5%).
