BMC Firmware Engineer
THE ROLE:
We are looking for a dynamic, energetic Software Systems Design Engineer to join our growing team. As a key contributor to the success of AMD's products, you will be part of a leading team to drive and improve AMD's abilities to deliver the highest quality, industry-leading technologies to market. The Software Systems Design Engineering team fosters and encourages continuous technical innovation to showcase successes as well as facilitate continuous career development.
THE PERSON:
As a firmware developer, you are passionate about developing quality well-designed and well-tested firmware implementations. You have a strong background in embedded firmware development and are eager to push the boundaries of your abilities and knowledge.
KEY RESPONSIBLITIES:
- Work closely with architects to develop, debug, and test BMC FW for Embedded solutions on platforms being designed with BMC requirements for x86 based SoC management.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including hardware engineers, other firmware developers, and validation teams to ensure seamless integration of the BMC firmware.
- Continuously enhance and optimize the BMC firmware to improve performance, reliability and remote management.
- Investigate and resolve firmware issues by utilizing debugging tools and collaborating with relevant teams.
- Create and maintain comprehensive firmware documentation, including specifications, design documents, and release notes.
- Collaborate with validation teams to develop test plans and conduct thorough firmware testing to ensure robustness, reliability, and security.
- Participate in code reviews to maintain code quality, sharing of knowledge, and ensure adherence to coding standards.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 8-12 years of industry experience in BMC firmware development for Side-band/Out-of-band server management.
- Experience in OpenBMC stack development mandatory.
- Experience on redfish and PLDM.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proven foundation in C programming.
- Strong methodical problem-solving skills.
- Experience with computer architecture.
- Familiar with source control systems such as Git and Perforce.
- Proficient in scripting languages such as Python and Bash.
- Experience with debug tools such as logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, and JTAG debuggers.
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
- Bachelors or master's degree in electrical or computer engineering.
- Master's degree preferred.
