SMTS Board Validation & Automation Lead

THE ROLE: 

 

 

We are seeking an experienced Board Validation & Automation Lead (SMTS) to lead validation infrastructure development and board test automation for next-generation evaluation and production platforms. This role combines software engineering, automation framework development, board validation, and technical leadership. The successful candidate will own validation infrastructure, board test suite development, execution methodologies, and release readiness while leading a small engineering team.

Key Responsibilities Validation Infrastructure Development

• Architect, develop, and maintain scalable board validation infrastructure.
• Develop automation frameworks for bring-up and production board validation.
• Design and develop user interfaces for peripheral selection, test configuration, and execution control.
• Develop validation workflow tools, dashboards, and execution management systems.
• Build result collection, analysis, and automated report generation solutions.
• Drive validation process improvements and automation initiatives.

Board Test Suite Development

• Develop and maintain reusable validation suites for board interfaces and peripherals.
• Create automated tests for board-level interfaces such as cotrol, high speed and multimedia peripherals 
• Execute board bring-up, functional validation, interoperability testing, stress testing, and production readiness qualification.
• Perform root cause analysis across hardware, firmware, drivers, and application software.
• Support board releases and production signoff activities.

Required Qualifications

• BS/MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline.
• 12+ years of experience in board validation, platform validation, embedded systems, or system test automation.
• Expert-level Python programming skills.
• Strong C programming experience.
• Strong Linux application development experience.
• Experience designing and maintaining validation automation frameworks.
• Experience developing user interfaces and workflow tools.
• Experience with automated report generation and validation analytics.
• Strong board bring-up and hardware debug experience.
• Familiarity with FPGA-based development platforms and Vivado tools.
• Excellent debugging skills spanning hardware, firmware, and software layers.

Leadership Expectations

• Lead and mentor a small team of validation and automation engineers.
• Drive execution across multiple board programs and releases.
• Collaborate effectively with Board Design, Silicon Validation, RTL, Firmware, Software, and Product Engineering teams.
• Establish best practices for board validation, automation, and release readiness.
• Drive cross-functional execution and technical alignment across organizations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience developing lab automation systems.
• Experience with Board Management Controllers and firmware.
• Knowledge of manufacturing, factory, and production validation environments.
• Experience with CI/CD and large-scale validation infrastructure
