CPU MICROCODE VERIFICATION ENGINEER

 

THE ROLE: 

As a CPU Microcode Verification Engineer, you will collaborate closely with Design Verification and RTL teams to validate design functionality and drive project convergence. Your expertise will be essential in the development and verification of advanced microprocessor architectures, with a particular emphasis on microcode verification.

You are passionate about modern, complex processor architecture, digital design, and verification methodologies. As a strong team player with excellent communication skills, you possess robust analytical and problem-solving abilities. You are eager to learn, adapt, and ready to tackle challenging technical problems.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Research, design, develop and test components and systems for semiconductor and related device manufacturing, leveraging expertise in digital design theory
  • Conduct pre-silicon verification of next-generation, high-performance microprocessor designs and associated intellectual property (IPs)
  • Independently deliver high-quality, timely, and cost-effective solutions
  • Achieve project milestones while maintaining a focus on qualitative contributions
  • Develop testbench components to facilitate comprehensive design verification of advanced microprocessor designs
  • Verify microprocessor microcode implementation and behavior, ensuring correctness, robustness, and compliance with architectural specifications
  • Collaborate with design teams to identify, analyze, and resolve microcode-related issues throughout the verification process

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: 

  • Strong project-level/hands-on experience with C++ programming and version control systems
  • Academic experience with digital design and RTL implementation concepts (Verilog HDL)
  • Solid understanding of assembly language, computer architecture and organization (x86, RISC-V)
  • Exposure to scripting languages such as Python or Perl
  • Any project in hardware modeling, testbench development or projects of similar scope and complexity is a major plus
  • Comfortable with Linux build environment

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND SKILLS : 

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering/Science
  • Proficiency in English, both written and verbal. Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within a diverse team environment
  • Modern computer architecture (processor pipelines and memory hierarchies)
  • Good knowledge of object-oriented programming (OOP) in C++
  • Micro-programmable automata and finite state machines, with practical experience in their application to microcode and processor design
  • Hardware verification methodologies and techniques, including simulation, debugging, coverage analysis, and verification
  • Demonstrated individual responsibility and a strong drive for personal achievement
