THE ROLE:  

This role is within a central organization and tasked with designing, establishing, and maintaining the architecture necessary for Client, Graphics, and Semi-Custom teams to efficiently manage and leverage their data resources.

THE PERSON:  

We are looking for a person that possesses a strategic mindset and can envision the long-term data architecture roadmap for various groups within AMD. They should be capable of aligning data solutions with business goals, anticipating future data needs, and designing scalable architectures that support growth and innovation. The individual will also lead and guide a team of data engineers, data scientists, mentor junior members and oversee project planning, resource allocation, time management, and coordinate with stakeholders to ensure that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and according to specifications.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Designing and implementing data architectures, including data models, databases, data warehouses, data lakes, and data lakehouses
  • Developing data strategies aligned with business objectives and future growth plans
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to gather data requirements and define data standards and governance policies
  • Evaluating and selecting appropriate technologies and tools for data storage, processing, and analytics
  • Overseeing data integration, ETL processes, and data pipelines to ensure efficient data movement and transformation
  • Ensuring data security, privacy, and compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Monitoring data performance, troubleshooting issues, and optimizing data processes for efficiency and scalability
  • Managing team of 5 – 6 engineers and providing guidance on data architecture best practices and methodologies
  • Evaluating emerging data technologies, tools, and platforms to determine their suitability for addressing the organization's data challenges and requirements

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:  

  • At least 10+ years of experience working within semiconductor industry or related high-tech sectors
  • At least 5+ years of experience in data management, database design, data modeling, and data architecture preferably within the semiconductor industry or related high-tech sectors
  • At least 5+ years of experience managing small team of data engineers and developers
  • Experience collaborating with international teams, particularly in China and India.
  • Hands-on experience with a variety of ETL and database/warehousing/integration tools like Snowflake, Databricks, NiFi
  • Proficiency in SQL, Python, C#/Java/Scala
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP is highly desirable
  • Experience with Infrastructure-As-Code and CI/CD automation
  • Experience with machine learning concepts, MLOps tools and technologies are beneficial
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with semi-conductor engineers, data scientists, and business stakeholders

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:  

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or Engineering preferred
