Director, Customer Server Platform Engineering The Role At AMD, we push the boundaries of innovation to solve the world's most important challenges. We are seeking a transformative engineering leader to head the Customer Server Platform Engineering function within AMD's SCPI organization. This director will lead a high-impact, multidisciplinary team responsible for enabling global datacenter and enterprise OEM customers to develop, optimize, and deploy server platforms powered by AMD EPYC solutions.
This role demands a strategic thinker and people-first leader who can drive technical excellence, customer success, and organizational development. You will serve as AMD's technical ambassador to top-tier customers, guiding platform bring-up, firmware adoption, and issue resolution across BIOS, firmware, documentation, performance, and security domains. You will also mentor senior leaders, influence silicon and platform roadmaps, and shape AMD's customer engineering strategy. - Lead and scale a global team across BIOS/firmware, server platforms/applications, documentation, performance, and security engineering.
- Define and execute a vision for customer platform enablement aligned with AMD's datacenter strategy and roadmap.
- Drive operational excellence through structured rhythms, metrics, and continuous improvement.
- Mentor and develop managers and senior engineers, building organizational capability and a high-performance culture.
- Build a strong leadership bench and support succession planning through coaching and career development.
- Champion diversity of thought and inclusive leadership practices across global teams.
- Serve as a trusted advisor and escalation point for top-tier datacenter and enterprise OEM customers.
- Guide platform bring-up, debug, and product launches with seamless integration of AMD technologies.
- Act as the voice of the customer internally, translating platform needs into actionable deliverables and influencing silicon, firmware, and platform development priorities.
- Represent AMD in executive and customer forums, synthesizing complex technical issues into clear, strategic guidance.
- Lead cross-functional task forces to resolve complex system-level issues including errata, performance bottlenecks, and security vulnerabilities.
- Translate customer BIOS/firmware requirements into actionable deliverables for AMD architecture and development teams.
- Deliver training and proofs of concept for new silicon features and firmware technologies.
- Support IBV and customer EDKII code bases and drive AMD firmware adoption and integration.
Preferred Experience
- 10+ years in server/platform engineering, including 3+ years in people leadership with experience managing managers.
- Deep expertise in x86 architecture, UEFI/BIOS, silicon initialization firmware, and system-level debug.
- Strong understanding of DDR, PCIe, eSPI, RAS, telemetry, and security features in server-class platforms.
- Proven track record of delivering production-quality firmware/software at scale.
- Extensive customer-facing experience in enterprise/OEM/datacenter environments.
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to influence across technical and executive audiences.
Education
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or related technical field.
