THE ROLE:
AMD's Ethics, Risk and Compliance organization is seeking a seasoned in-house attorney to join our Ethics, Risk & Compliance team. The Director of Global Compliance & Investigations will be based in Penang, Malaysia and report to the Deputy Chief Compliance Officer. You will assist in designing, executing, and continuously enhancing risk-based policies, controls, training, and monitoring across conflicts of interest, gifts and entertainment, charitable/political activities, third-party risk management, and books-and-records/internal accounting controls. You will also build, earn, and maintain trust with global stakeholders through the promotion of trustworthy reporting channels; effective intake, assessment, investigation, and resolution of business conduct compliance concerns. You will work in a fast-paced, challenging, and rewarding environment where your legal, analytical, organizational, and investigative skills will play an impactful role in tackling some of the most complex, interesting, and cutting-edge business conduct compliance issues in the technology sector.
THE PERSON:
- Experience in the technology, semiconductor or related global industries preferred.
- Ability to build a strong reputation and by negotiating successfully across a global and multi-functioned organization, and with external customers and partners.
- Demonstrated experience with channel partner risk management in the technology sector, including in high-risk markets.
- Hands-on experience with p hjartner incentives and controls (special pricing/discounts, rebates, MDF, deal registration, channel marketing events, etc.).
- Uses broad knowledge, deep expertise, and strong judgment to balance legal risks and business objectives and resolving complex and challenging issues.
- Willingness to work across time zones.
- Demonstrated ability to drive self and team to plan and execute effectively, to continuously improve, and to influence others.
- Exceptional executive briefing skills and ability to advise senior and executive management on investigations and downstream channel compliance matters having significant impact to company.
- Networks with key contacts in and outside of own area of expertise to continuously improve investigations program effectiveness.
- Ability to drive intra-company and cross-functional initiatives and teams effectively, particularly for implementing post-investigation remediation actions, driving channel and end-use compliance, and implementing investigations program improvements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Third-party due diligence and lifecycle management.
- Assist in implementing risk-based anti-bribery/anticorruption (ABAC) due diligence program for third parties, including screening, beneficial ownership mapping, adverse media, and enhanced due diligence where warranted.
- Partner with relevant business stakeholders in third-party onboarding, monitoring, renewal and remediation/termination decisions.
- Analyze and render decisions on employee disclosures of conflicts of interest (COI) and gifts, entertainment, travel, and hospitality (G&E).
- Review higher-risk requests (government touchpoints) and ensure controls over related expenditures.
- Partner with E&C Training and Communications to draft and deliver targeted training and on ABAC, COI, G&E and third-party risk management, for employees and relevant third parties.
- Conduct and oversee objective, thorough and effective investigations into credible allegations of legal and ethical violations, working across borders and jurisdictions as necessary.
- Oversee the preparation of clear, accurate, and comprehensive investigation reports documenting allegations, findings, and recommendations for discipline and corrective actions, at the level of detail appropriate for each investigation.
- Crystalize relevant information to effectively and timely brief company executives on investigation plans, disciplinary outcomes, and remediation plans.
- Effectively communicate and partner with external auditors to foster trust in our investigations process and integrity of outcomes.
- Work cross-functionally with Internal Audit, Human Resources and Legal Department attorneys to propose and implement post-investigation discipline and remediation plans.
- Train and develop investigations team members to create and implement investigation plans, design relevant remediation steps, and manage logistics to assure timely completion and high-quality documentation.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- 10+ years of related experience required, including 5 years focused on compliance and investigations in a multinational corporate environment and/or top-tier law firm.
- Experience in the technology and semiconductor industry is a plus.
- Experience with the channel sales model and channel compliance is a plus.
ACADEMIC AND PROFESSIONAL CREDENTIALS:
- Bachelor's and Juris Doctor degree (or equivalent) from a reputed institution.
- License to practice law (or in-house equivalent) in relevant jurisdiction(s).
