PMTS SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER - EMB NPI Diags SoC Lead
THE ROLE:
- The Diagnostics SoC Technical Lead represents the Diagnostics team within the embedded SoC/Program Core Team and is accountable for diagnostics strategy, planning, execution, coverage, and post-silicon readiness.
- The role requires strong technical depth, cross-functional leadership, and execution rigor to ensure high-quality bring-up, risk mitigation, and sustained product health.
THE PERSON:
- The ideal candidate should be passionate about software engineering and possess leadership skills to drive sophisticated issues to resolution.
- Able to communicate effectively and work optimally with different teams across AMD.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Drive IP/System-level test plan reviews and signoffs. Collaborate closely with Diag PM, IP teams, Platform Validation, Release teams, Manufacturing teams.
- Create and drive cross-IP diagnostics strategies, including emulation strategy, debug posture, and post-silicon execution readiness.
- Own and drive high-risk or disruptive diagnostics and SoC features, stepping in as technical lead where required.
- Apply a data minded approach to target optimization efforts.
- Stay informed of software and hardware trends and innovations, especially pertaining to algorithms and architecture.
- Drive diagnostics coverage expansion, with the goal of maximizing defect detection pre-production.
- Participating in new embedded ASIC and hardware bring ups.
- Provide clear technical guidance, feedback, and recommendations across teams.
- Develop technical relationships with peers and partners.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Programming benchmarks and tools to reveal SOC architectural limitations and improve performance and stability
- Strong programming background, C/C++ preferred
- Ability to write high quality code with a keen attention to detail
- Experience with modern concurrent programming and threading APIs
- Experience with Windows, Linux and/or Android operating system development
- Experience with software development processes and tools such as debuggers, source code control systems (GitHub) and profilers is a plus
- Effective communication and problem-solving skills
- Motivating leader with good interpersonal skills
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
- Bachelor's degree with 9+ years of relevant industry experience, or
- Master's degree with 7+ years of relevant industry experience
- Preferred majors: Computer Science, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or related fields.
