THE ROLE
If you're passionate about experimenting with the latest and greatest technologies through beta-testing software, drivers, or operating systems, this is your opportunity to get in on the ground floor and be part of the growing AMD Graphics Software QA team delivering new technologies to production.
This is an exciting opportunity where you will be exposed to all the latest technologies in the computer graphics industry including desktop and mobile segments. You will get hands-on with latest graphics technologies, prototype hardware, and AI/ML developments, and have an opportunity to drive improvements to overall software quality and operational efficiency.
The successful candidate would be comfortable setting up and interacting with hundreds of Windows and Linux machines to report on the results of automated testing, implementing lab metrics and system maintenance policies to meet SLAs.
You will be part of a multi-disciplinary team with a strong focus on the quality of new software features and new operating systems support for our graphics driver releases. We are looking for someone who is passionate about the PC and gaming industry, software quality, automation and problem solving, and has a relentless focus on customer satisfaction.
THE PERSON:
The ideal candidate is someone who has a passion, interest and curiosity for PCs, graphics and display technologies. Familiarity with PC hardware, Microsoft Windows and Linux operating systems, test automation and CI/CD will be very valuable in this role.
The ideal candidate will have prior experience in software, gaming, testing, automation, lab management or a related field where hundreds of machines are in use. The right individual must work well with others, be a great communicator, and understand the functions of the different disciplines on a QA team. Expertise in building PC systems, networks, and labs is a must.
The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who can manage multiple labs of test systems and have the drive to implement improvements for efficiency and test system uptime.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain and expand labs of desktop and mobile PC systems to execute regular test automation
- Identify additional opportunities for lab automation and maintain high test system uptime
- Design and report test lab metrics including system and network uptime, availability, and equipment fail rates.
- Work with IT, building facilities and DevOps to enable network and lab infrastructure requirements
- Communicate key status updates for high-impact issues
- Drive technical innovation to improve AMD's capabilities across product development and validation, including software tools and script development, technical and procedural methodology enhancement, and various internal and cross-functional initiatives.
- Mentor others to achieve integrated projects.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Expert in building PCs, system imaging, and troubleshooting computer issues on Windows and Linux.
- Background in Software QA, PC or gaming industry
- Automation lab management experience
- Network topology and network management experience
- Scripting or test automation experience (Python, C#)
- CI/CD tools, workflows, and infrastructure (Jenkins, GitHub, MAAS, YAML)
- Excellent analytical skills and a razor-sharp eye for details
- Strong English written and verbal communication skills, and strong reading comprehension
- Comfortable to work in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment with changing demands
- Highly reliable, and self-motivated with excellent time and task management
- Experience with test case management and defect tracking tools.
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
- Bachelors or master's degree in electrical or computer engineering.
