SMTS SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER
THE ROLE:
AMD is looking for an influential software engineer who is passionate about improving the performance of key applications and benchmarks. You will be a member of Advanced Rendering Research, and will work with the very latest hardware and software technology.
THE PERSON:
The ideal candidate should be passionate about software engineering and possess leadership skills to drive sophisticated issues to resolution. Able to communicate effectively and work optimally with different teams across AMD.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work with AMD's architecture specialists to improve future products
- Data-Driven Insights & Roadmap Influence: Analyze model performance on key metrics to identify areas for improvement and directly influence our future R&D roadmap.
- Hypothesis-Driven Experimentation: Develop and formulate hypotheses regarding model and data performance, potential improvements, and areas for optimization. Design, execute, and rigorously analyze experiments to validate or refute these hypotheses.
- Metric Definition & Dashboarding: Identify and define the appropriate metrics (e.g., perceptual quality scores, fidelity metrics, artifact detection rates) to track model and data performance and improvements. Implement these metrics in accessible dashboard and pipeline with fast turn-around for changes.
- Collaboration & Cross-Functional Alignment: Work closely with research, engineering and QA teams to translate data insights into actionable strategies.
- Data Infrastructure & Efficiency: Build and maintain data tables, scripts, and processes to streamline data analysis, improve efficiency, and make data more readily accessible to the team.
- Model Evaluation & Tuning: Contribute to the evaluation of generated images and videos, identifying areas for model refinement and potential training data improvements.
- Stay informed of software and hardware trends and innovations, especially pertaining to algorithms and architecture
- Debugging/fix existing issues and research alternative, more efficient ways to accomplish the same work
- Develop technical relationships with peers and partners
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Strong object-oriented programming background, C/C++ preferred
- Ability to write high quality code with a keen attention to detail
- Extensive experience in data analysis and performance metrics evaluation, particularly in machine learning or AI models.
- Proficiency in hypothesis-driven experimentation and statistical analysis.
- Familiarity with defining and implementing performance metrics, especially in the context of perceptual quality and fidelity.
- Experience with building and maintaining data pipelines, dashboards, and data infrastructure for efficient analysis.
- Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work cross-functionally with research, engineering, and quality assurance teams.
- Background in model evaluation and tuning, with a focus on image and video generation.
- Knowledge of current software and hardware trends related to algorithms and architectures.
- Demonstrated experience in debugging and optimizing existing processes or systems.
- Previous engagement in developing technical relationships with peers and industry partners.
- Familiarity with tools and technologies used in data analysis, such as SQL, Python, or similar programming languages.
- Experience with Windows, Linux and/or Android operating system development
- Experience with software development processes and tools such as debuggers, source code control systems (GitHub) and profilers is a plus
- Effective communication and problem-solving skills
- Motivating leader with good interpersonal skills
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
- Master's degree or PHD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
