THE ROLE: 

AMD Research and Advanced Development team is seeking an experienced researcher to help drive development of rapid performance and power modeling infrastructure to evaluate AI-workload-impact from emerging memory and implementation technologies for datacenter GPU and AI accelerator architectures. The work will incorporate emerging trends in AI inference. This work will also interface directly with advanced packaging explorations and the capabilities enabled by that. Strong candidates will have demonstrated track record of leading research projects in computer architecture, as well as strong fundamentals on memory systems, interconnects, accelerator architecture, AI workloads, and performance modeling.

THE PERSON: 

AMD Research and Advanced Development team is looking for a senior researcher that can help accelerate memory and interconnect research, mentor upcoming researchers, and contribute to long term strategy.  

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Analyze data movement challenges of future AI accelerators
  • Develop solutions to reduce data movement bottlenecks and energy consumption
  • Influence future DRAM technology directions to improve the efficiency of AI accelerators
  • Work closely with other team members to maximize impact and to guide junior researchers 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: 

  • Deep expertise in DRAM and memory technologies and/or on-chip interconnection networks
  • Strong fundamentals in GPU and AI accelerator architecture
  • Solid understanding of modern AI workloads
  • Experience with architectural performance and power modeling
  • Demonstrated track record of successful research project leadership
  • Solid programming skills in Python, C, or C++  

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS: 

  • Ph.D. or equivalent experience in Electrical or Computer Engineering or a closely related field, plus 5+ years post-graduation experience in a research setting.
