Job Role and Responsibility: AMD, Inc. is hiring an MTS Systems Design Eng. to research, design, develop, and/or test operating systems-level software, compilers, and network distribution software for semiconductor operations, applying principles and techniques of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis. Plan, design, develop, and test software systems for software enhancements and new products. Set operational specifications and formulate and analyze software requirements. Develop, modify, and enhance functional and stress tests to identify silicon bugs on emulator. Instrument firmware code to support failure debug. Triage failures with design, verification, firmware, software, and emulation teams. Drive projects or processes of significant technical importance. Exercise wide latitude in determining objectives and approaches to critical assignments. Participate in code reviews, creating unit tests, authoring detailed documentation related to work, and working with on-site and offshore teams to deliver the software solutions on schedule. Utilize expertise with computers and electronics, including computer hardware and software, applications, and programming, as well as knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. Apply knowledge of engineering principles, best practices, and technologies to the design, development, and testing of various AMD products.

Qualifications: Degree required

Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.

Qualifications: Amount and type of experience required: Three (3) years of experience in the job offered or a closely related engineering role.

Alternate combination of education and experience: Employer will alternatively accept a Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field and five (5) years of progressive post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or closely related engineering role.

Specific skills required: The following skills are required:

Position requires three (3) years of experience in the following:

• SOC or system architecture;
• Functional verification of microprocessors;
• Python;
• System or SOC-level debug and triage;
• Defining requirements for manufacturing validation;
• Applying emulation and platform-level tools and techniques to ensure performance to specification; and
• Developing AI-based triaging tools for improving debugging efficiency.
