THE ROLE

AMD is seeking an Embedded Product Applications Engineer to provide technical support for AMD Embedded processors, platforms, software, and development tools. In this role, you will serve as a key technical interface between customers, field teams, and engineering organizations to help resolve complex technical challenges, improve product quality, and accelerate customer success.

The ideal candidate is passionate about troubleshooting, enjoys solving challenging system-level problems, and thrives in a collaborative environment working across hardware, software, firmware, and platform technologies.

THE PERSON

You are a customer-focused problem solver who combines strong technical expertise with excellent communication skills. You enjoy investigating complex issues, understanding root causes, and working closely with engineering teams to drive solutions. You embrace ownership, continuously expand your technical knowledge, and are motivated by helping customers successfully deploy industry-leading embedded technologies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Drive customer technical support activities from initial investigation through successful resolution.
  • Debug complex hardware, software, firmware, and system-level issues.
  • Reproduce customer-reported issues in laboratory environments and perform root cause analysis.
  • Partner with engineering teams to resolve product defects and technical escalations.
  • Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting support to customers and field teams.
  • Develop deep expertise in AMD Embedded processors, platforms, software, and technologies.
  • Analyze logs, traces, schematics, software outputs, and hardware behavior to identify and resolve issues.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, knowledge articles, troubleshooting guides, and FAQs.
  • Identify opportunities to improve product supportability, documentation quality, and customer experience.
  • Support new product introductions through readiness, validation, and support enablement activities.
  • Develop automation tools, scripts, and AI-assisted debugging solutions to improve support effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with global teams across engineering, product management, sales, marketing, and customer support organizations.
  • Deliver exceptional customer experiences while meeting responsiveness and support objectives.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
  • Technical troubleshooting, applications engineering, customer support, or related engineering experience.
  • Experience with embedded systems, hardware design, software development, or platform-level debugging.
  • Understanding of computer architecture, operating systems, digital design, or embedded computing platforms.
  • Experience investigating and resolving complex technical problems independently.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within cross-functional and global teams.

Experience in one or more of the following areas is highly desirable:

  • AMD Embedded processor, APU, or CPU architectures.
  • Board bring-up, firmware, BIOS, BSP, or device driver development.
  • High-speed interfaces such as PCIe, Ethernet, DDR, USB, MIPI, DisplayPort, video, RF, or networking technologies.
  • Hardware debugging using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, protocol analyzers, and other laboratory equipment.
  • Software development or scripting using C, C++, Python, Shell, PowerShell, or similar technologies.
  • System validation, performance analysis, and debug methodologies.
  • Customer-facing applications engineering or technical support.
  • AI-assisted debugging, automation, and knowledge management solutions.
  • Defect tracking, CRM, or case management systems.
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS

Preferred qualifications include a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
