THE ROLE:
Join a global team responsible for enabling next‑generation AMD microprocessors in high‑volume manufacturing. In this role, you will plan, debug, and manage manufacturing and characterization test programs on industry‑leading Automated Test Equipment (ATE) platforms such as LTXC Sapphire and Verigy 93K. You will work hands‑on with test hardware, test software, and device‑specific IP to ensure compatibility, compliance, and complete test coverage from early product definition through product qualification and ramp. This position offers the opportunity to deepen your expertise in silicon debug, test infrastructure, and product engineering while collaborating across cross‑functional teams driving AMD's most advanced CPU products.
THE PERSON:
You are a self‑driven engineer who thrives in a fast‑paced technical environment and can independently solve complex problems with accuracy and reliability. You take ownership of your deliverables, communicate clearly across distributed teams, and consistently demonstrate sound engineering judgment. Your curiosity, accountability, and collaborative mindset help you navigate ambiguity and contribute meaningfully to product success.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop, debug, and maintain manufacturing and characterization test programs for advanced AMD microprocessors.
- Troubleshoot ATE test infrastructure—including hardware, software, and device‑level IP—to ensure quality, compliance, and robust test coverage.
- Perform design‑equivalent tasks supporting product definition, qualification, and high‑volume manufacturing readiness.
- Execute yield, cost, and quality improvement initiatives through data analysis and structured debug methodologies.
- Partner with cross‑functional engineering teams to deliver timely, accurate, and reliable test results.
- Contribute to continuous improvement by refining test processes, tools, and diagnostics.
- Perform additional duties to support program milestones and operational excellence.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- ATE‑based silicon debug, including test specification implementation, timing, vectors/patterns, and hardware interaction.
- Hands‑on use of debug instruments such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and voltmeters.
- Familiarity with JTAG IEEE 1149.1, hardware description languages, and digital logic fundamentals.
- Statistical and Pareto analysis techniques for identifying outliers, trends, and root causes.
- Programming with C/C++/Java/C#, scripting languages (Perl, Ruby, shell), and working knowledge of Linux/Unix.
- Understanding of computer architecture concepts including pipelining, caching, x86, and general PC system organization.
- Experience with Agile methodologies, revision control systems (Git, SVN, CVS), and collaboration tools.
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering (preferred).
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering also desirable.
This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
