THE ROLE:
We are in search of an experienced program manager with strong analytical, problem-solving and risk management skills. Ability to work efficiently and manage effective relationships in a cross-functional organization to meet commitments for successful customer program launches. Must be self-directed and work in complex and dynamic ecosystems.
THE PERSON:
As a Program Manager you will partner with our cross functional teams to manage customer accounts and their portfolio, understand our customers platforms/solutions. Identify and document customer requirements and establish engineering schedules. Drive AMD product solution deliverables and alignment with customers' platforms to ensure highest level customer satisfaction throughout their product lifecycle.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plan and drive the cross-functional execution of various engineering functions to enable best-in-class customer solutions.
- Drive AMD product solution deliverables and align with customer platforms to ensure the highest level of customer satisfaction throughout the product lifecycle.
- Engage with the technical leadership team to understand and document program scope, establish integrated schedules, assess and manage program progress and risk, and create resource and budget plans.
- Represent the Semi-Custom Engineering organization in corporate and executive planning and execution forums.
Work with the finance team and engineering team leads to keep the program budget on track. - Collaborate with the Core Leadership team (Chief Engineer, BU heads, Product Architects, etc.) and relevant team members to ensure compliance with customer gate checklists and contract milestone attainment with the business development team.
- Act as the “Voice of the Customer” while working with internal teams.
- Define, plan, and drive projects and program plans based on management and senior technical guidance.
- Apply thorough knowledge of project management principles effectively on small to large size projects.
- Take responsibility for projects or processes of significant technical importance and for results that cross engineering project areas.
- Initiate significant changes to existing processes and methods to improve project and team efficiency.
- Create and maintain project management artifacts such as schedules, resource forecasts, risk and issues logs.
- Provide unique views of project status updates and facilitate cross-development team dependencies and communications.
- Identify action or mitigation plans for issues or risks that arise during the project lifecycle.
- Collaborate with core teams and execution teams to identify areas requiring special attention or escalations to identify corrective actions.
- Collect, analyze, organize, and publish work performance data via dashboards and recurring status reports.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Detail-oriented, self-driven with a strong sense of pride and ownership.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, interpersonal, presentation, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to handle all levels of interaction, including executive level.
- Ability to build relationships and work effectively as a self-starter and as part of a team.
- Proactively involve team members in planning, decision-making, and execution efforts.
- People management experience is desirable.
- Horizontal leadership/Matrix management experience.
- Technical program management and customer relationship management.
- Collaborate in problem-solving and mitigating risks with Engineering, Program/Project Management, Business Units, and Product Management - both internal and external.
- Strong knowledge of productivity and project tools including Jira, Confluence, Microsoft Office Suite.
- Well-organized, technically oriented, and a self-starter with a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and coordinate the activities of geographically distributed technical teams.
- Preferred experience level: 5+ years of program management experience.
- Familiar with product development with hardware platforms and related software ecosystem.
- Demonstrated ability to grasp new technical concepts quickly.
- Strong networking and social skills.
- Ability to influence horizontally across multiple internal functional organizations.
- Excellent analytical, project planning, and management skills.
- Proven ability to deliver large cross-functional strategic initiatives.
- Quickly adapt to dynamic business and technical requirements.
- Business savvy: ability to think strategically and make intelligent technical vs business trade-off recommendations.
- Skilled in interfacing with customers, partners, and in managing joint-development projects.
- Energized by working in a fast-paced matrixed technical organization and multi-site environment.
- Formal project management education, PMP / Scrum Master
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer/Electrical Engineering or Computer Science.
