THE ROLE:
We are seeking an Embedded Android Display Engineer to own and drive display enablement and optimization on Android‑based embedded platforms. This role is highly cross‑functional, working across Android framework, HAL, Linux kernel, and display hardware pipelines, from early bring‑up to production delivery for automotive products.
THE PERSON:
As a Software Systems Design Engineer, you will be responsible for end‑to‑end Android display stack enablement, ensuring stable, high‑performance, and production‑ready display solutions. This is a high‑visibility role spanning kernel drivers through Android user space, collaborating closely with hardware, graphics, and platform teams.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design, develop, and integrate Android display stack components:
- Linux DRM/KMS drivers
- Android Display HAL (HWC / HWC2)
- SurfaceFlinger integration
- Enable and debug display bring‑up on embedded/Android platforms:
- Modesetting and resolution support
- Multi‑display and hot‑plug scenarios
- Work across display interfaces and pipelines:
- DisplayPort, HDMI, eDP, MIPI DSI
- Panels, bridges, and PHY configuration
- Optimize display performance, power consumption, and stability
- Debug display issues across kernel, HAL, and Android framework layers
- Collaborate with GPU, graphics, and middleware teams (SurfaceFlinger, HWComposer, OpenGL/Vulkan where applicable)
- Support multi‑use‑case scenarios such as:
- Automotive IVI
- Cluster and secondary displays
- Drive issues to closure across development, validation, and release cycles
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- 6+ years of experience in Android display development
- Strong expertise in Android display architecture:
- SurfaceFlinger
- Hardware Composer (HWC / HWC2)
- Display HAL
- Solid experience with Linux display subsystems:
- DRM/KMS
- Framebuffer, modesetting, atomic commits
- Strong proficiency in C / C++
- Experience working with Android BSPs and AOSP
- Hands‑on debugging using:
- logcat, systrace / perfetto
- kernel logs and DRM debugfs
- Understanding of display timing, pipelines, and power management
- Knowledge of system architecture, technical debug, and validation strategies.
- Detailed oriented; ability to multitask through planning/organizing.
- Excellent Communication and Presentation skills.
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
- Bachelors or master's degree in electrical or computer engineering.
- Master's degree preferred.
