THE ROLE:
AMD is looking for an influential software engineer who is passionate about improving the performance of key applications and benchmarks. You will be a member of a core team of incredibly talented industry specialists and will work with the very latest hardware and software technology.
THE PERSON:
The ideal candidate should be passionate about software engineering and possess leadership skills to drive sophisticated issues to resolution. Able to communicate effectively and work optimally with different teams across AMD.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Daily Performance Tracking: Monitor AI performance metrics daily. Identify, document, and prioritize performance and feature gaps against industry benchmarks.
- Strategic Signal Intelligence: Track external competitive signals and analyze new software release, software stack optimizations, and price/performance shifts.
- Technical Synthesis: Answer the "Why does it matter?" for leadership. Translate complex GPU architecture changes and software optimizations into daily briefs that outline necessary actions for our engineering teams.
- Cross-Functional Advocacy: Work closely with GPU Kernel and Framework teams (Pytorch/vLLM/SGLang/JAX) to close identified gaps and ensure our roadmap reflects the current competitive reality.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Deep AI Infrastructure Knowledge: Strong understanding of LLM inference stacks, GPU architectures, and distributed serving frameworks.
- Analytical Riger: Ability to parse technical whitepapers, Github PRs, and market reports to find the "signal to noise."
- Strategic Communication: Proven ability to communicate with both engineers and SVPs, turning raw performance data into a strategic narrative.
- Experience with Benchmarking: Familiarity with popular external and internal inference benchmarking suites.
- Partnership Management: Experience managing high-value external technical consulting or research relationships.
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
