THE ROLE:
AMD's Public Sector Group is seeking a Senior Strategic Business Manager & Chief of Staff to serve as a key partner to the Senior Vice President and executive leadership team. This role is instrumental in driving operational excellence, strategic alignment, and execution of high-impact initiatives within a complex, fast-paced environment. You will act as a critical connector across functions and external stakeholders, advancing AMD's leadership in sovereign AI, public policy, and government partnerships.

 

THE PERSON:
The ideal candidate is a strategic operator and trusted advisor with deep experience managing complex programs and navigating matrixed organizations. You possess a rare combination of business insight, technical fluency, and executive communication skills. Your proven ability to influence senior stakeholders, lead cross-functional teams, and manage sensitive government and industry relationships will be key to your success. You thrive in dynamic environments and bring a strong bias for action, collaboration, and innovation.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Partner closely with the SVP to manage governance frameworks, executive calendars, and critical business rhythms
  • Demonstrate strong program management skills by overseeing complex, cross-functional initiatives from conception through execution, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and timely delivery of results
  • Lead development and delivery of executive communications, including briefings, presentations, and stakeholder engagement forums
  • Drive strategic planning, program management, and execution across multiple business functions to meet Public Sector objectives
  • Manage budget planning, resource allocation, and executive reporting to enable data-driven decision-making
  • Build and sustain strategic relationships with government agencies, industry coalitions, and external partners
  • Collaborate with Communications and Legal teams to ensure clear, consistent messaging internally and externally
  • Track and analyze KPIs and strategic milestones, providing actionable insights to leadership
  • Foster a culture of accountability, operational rigor, and continuous innovation

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Executive-level experience leading complex programs or strategic initiatives in public sector, technology, or AI domains
  • Proven ability to influence senior leaders and manage cross-functional teams in matrixed organizations
  • Deep understanding of regulatory and public policy environments related to technology and AI
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with demonstrated ability to engage executive and external audiences
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office and data visualization tools
  • Results-driven mindset with a track record of delivering impactful outcomes

 

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • Bachelor's degree required; preferred fields include Engineering, Public Policy, or related disciplines
  • Advanced degree (MBA, MPA, or equivalent) highly desirable

 

LOCATION:
Austin, TX preferred; open to other locations for exceptional candidates.
