THE ROLE:
Engineer position within AMD accountable for the design, development, and validation System Level Test (SLT), Burn In (BI) and Validation sockets used in semiconductor product test equipment and benchtop test. Able to provide socket technical expertise and engineering solution for products that are in New Product Introduction (NPI) and High Volume Manufacturing (HVM) environment.
THE PERSON:
You will provide technical supervision or mentoring to junior engineers and influence others as a subject matter expert. A successful candidate is one who can drive technical decisions independently, has accountability for accuracy, reliability and completeness of assignment results critical to the project's success. This role allows the opportunity to influence technical decisions that have a significant impact on multiple products or the product line.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Define socket design requirements in Request for Proposal (RFP) to develop product specific test socket solutions and ensure RFP met by socket suppliers.
- Project manage socket suppliers to ensure deliverable of engineering simulation/look ahead study, prototype build, OQC validation tests and delivery for NPI and HVM are on track and update development progress in SLT socket Dashboard weekly.
- Review socket engineering design phase reports of signal integrity simulation, manual lid thermal simulation, test package-to-socket-to-board tolerance analysis, mechanical stack up/interference check and socket design drawing/check list prior approve for build.
- Collaborate with thermal/mechanical and board design team to finalize socket mechanical stack up/interference check.
- Collaborate with signal integrity and procurement team to conduct supplier selection with product development team to finalize awarded socket supplier.
- Create socket kits matrix table and submit/upload to AGILE system to generate AMD part number.
- Review socket manufacturing phase reports of OQC validation tests, visual mechanical check and product specific socket user guide prior approve for delivery.
- Ensure proper documentation of RFP, Equipment Configuration Matrix (ECM), engineering design phase reports and manufacturing phase reports as stated above.
- Provide socket technical support to Product Development Group (PDG), labs team, and HVM sites in Engineering Core Team (ECT) meeting and package design team in Test Package Interaction (TPI) meeting when requested.
- Collaborate with Hardware Manufacturing Engineering (HME) team when qualifying a new socket technology in production environment.
- Collaborate with System Design Validation team to develop Validation socket for benchtop test.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Preferred >5 years relevant work experience
- Good knowledge of latest SLT and BI test socket/contact technology.
- Experienced with SLT and BI socket design and development.
- Experienced with handling different socket solution (Spring probe with coaxial housing technology, Elastomer contact, stamped pin, curling pin etc.)
- Experienced with 3D Design Software and Simulation (Solidworks, Thermal Simulation, Monte Carlo simulation or equivalent).
- Exposure to signal integrity simulation of test socket
- Good knowledge in Geometrical Dimensioning & Tolerancing and able to review test package-to[1]socket-to-board tolerance analysis result.
- Good knowledge of Statistic Process Control methodology
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to create and discuss technical documentation and presentations.
- Hands-on, Independent, resourceful, self-initiative and adapt to dynamic changes
- Exposure to the latest technology in SLT and BI socket design solutions.
- Experienced with silicon product test equipment (ATE, SLT and BI).
- Experienced with project management tools to manage large scale projects.
- Experienced with being part of a global team.
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
- Degree in Mechatronics / Mechanical Engineering
