Job Role and Responsibility: AMD is hiring SMTS Systems Design Engineers to Research, design, develop, and/or test electronic components and systems for semiconductor and related device manufacturing, employing knowledge of electronic theory. Design a complete and complex framework, system or product. Define processes for technical platforms, system specifications, input/output and working parameters for hardware and/or software

compatibility. Conceive system interfaces and business application prototypes. Identify, analyze and resolve system design weaknesses. Influence the shaping of future products by contributing to the framework (architecture) used across multiple products or systems. Provide multi-layered technical expertise for next generation initiatives. Evaluate all aspects of the process flow from high-level designs to synthesis, place and route, and timing and power use. Drive technical innovation to improve AMD's capabilities across validation, including tool and script development, technical and procedural methodology enhancement, and various internal and cross- functional technical initiatives. Work on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors. Under supervision, exercise limited judgment within defined company procedures and practices to select methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Utilize knowledge of computers and electronics, including circuit boards, processors, chips, and electronic equipment, as well as knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles. Apply knowledge of engineering principles, best practices, and technologies to the design, development, and testing of various AMD products.

Qualifications: Degree required

Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field.

Qualifications: Amount and type of experience required: Four (4) years of experience in the job offered or a closely related engineering role.

Alternate combination of education and experience: Employer will alternatively accept a bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field and six (6) years of experience in the job offered or a closely related engineering role.

Specific skills required: The following skills are required:

Position requires four years experience in the following:

• Scripting with C, C++, or Python;
• Board-level and platform-level debugging, including delivery, sequencing, analysis, and optimization;
• System architecture and validation;
• Characterization and validation for memory controllers;
• Debugging and failure analysis for memory interface;
• Signal integrity analysis and logic analysis;
• LPDDR4 and DRAM; and
• GPU architecture and memory subsystems.
