THE ROLE:
Have you ever completed a grinding raid, and just as you are about to pick up that sought-after piece of loot the dreaded Blue Screen of Death pops up? If either of these scenarios have triggered some bad memories – this is your opportunity to do something about it!

Playing PC games casually is one thing, however grinding and playing for extended time periods, streaming, and task switching are factors that can stress the graphics card and graphics driver, and potentially be the cause of undesirable behavior like crashes, BSOD, Black Screen, corruption, stuttering, etc. Our team strives to identify scenarios that cause these undesirable behaviors, and make sure that they get fixed.

We are looking for dedicated people to help play games in order to identify scenarios that trigger these behaviors, and help drive those issues to resolution. That's right – we are looking for people to join the team in order to play PC games!

This role is an exciting opportunity in which you will have great exposure to all the latest technologies in the computer graphics industry – 3D Gaming, Display Technologies, and Virtual Reality just to name a few. You will get hands-on with the latest games, hardware, and software, and have an opportunity to drive improvement to the overall user experience.

THE PERSON:
Do you love breaking things and communicating how to make them better? Testers must have a keen eye for detail, strong analytical skills, and most importantly – a passion for games. A successful candidate will hold extensive PC gaming knowledge and be an avid gaming enthusiast. Experience with competitive gaming (Amateur or Professional) is a big plus. The candidate would have the ability and desire to sit and game for sessions of up to 8 hours on a daily basis and have the discipline and integrity to record test steps taken in order to help reproduce issues in the case that they pop up. Familiarity with trends with popular background applications, streaming services, and use cases for different gaming scenarios will be very valuable in this role.

The ideal candidate will have prior QA experience in video games, mobile testing, or a related field. The right individual must work well with others, be a great communicator, and understand the functions of the different disciplines on a test and debug team. Automated Testing will also play a big part in the role, and the successful candidate would be comfortable interacting with the Windows OS and triggering / reporting on the results of these automated tests. Familiarity with the architecture of a PC, and comfort in building systems and troubleshooting issues is a must.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Play in gaming sessions in different ‘end user scenarios' such as Streaming, iCafe, extended, or competitive, etc.
  • Identify and Reproduce issues found, and work with engineering teams to prioritize and drive to resolution
  • Communicate key status updates for high-impact issues
  • Verify proper implementation of features against design specifications
  • Acquire and exercise knowledge on testing methodologies in the PC and Video Game Industry
  • Test and help improve AMD's graphics hardware and software

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • An extremely strong passion for video games and PC gaming
  • Comfort building PCs and swapping in/out components for testing
  • QA background, ideally in the games industry
  • Excellent analytical skills and a razor-sharp eye for details
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, and strong reading comprehension
  • Comfortable to work in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment with changing demands
  • Highly reliable, and self motivated with excellent time and task management
