Job Role and Responsibility: AMD Design LLC, a subsidiary of AMD, Inc., is hiring Sr. Thermal Engineers to Support the engineering team by loading, testing and validating thermal solutions for rack mount servers. Troubleshot thermal and/or airflow issues in new and existing product lines. Work with the engineering team to optimize thermal performance of servers using empirical data and bench test methods. Optimize airflow speed, volume and flow paths to meet customer and components requirements. Support custom engineering projects that require hands-on ability to interconnect complex server systems. Produce thermal reports from experimental data and testing/modeling experience. Manage ECO (Engineering Change Order) process for and provide validation for design modifications. Analyze and solve technical problems/issues in a fast-paced environment. Produce engineering documents that include design drawings, installation manuals, etc. Support procurement team to identify and manage 3rd party vendors.

Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related field.
Qualifications: Amount and type of experience required: Two (2) years of experience as a Thermal Engineer or a related role.
Alternate combination of education and experience: Employer will alternatively accept a master's degree or foreign equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related field, plus any amount of experience as a Thermal Engineer or a related role.

This role requires a bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related field, plus two (2) years of experience as a Thermal Engineer or a related role.
This role requires two (2) years of experience with each of the following:
- Heat transfer and fluid mechanics.
- Commercial CFD Software skills, such as inputting fan PQ to estimate air flow, and inputting heatsink Rca cureve estimate server thermal performance.
- 3D CAD Software skills, such as creating simplified component model to run thermal simulation.
- Advanced engineering analysis, specifically stress, fatigue, and vibration analysis.
- Automated test infrastructure through the use of programs including LabVIEW and scripted languages including Python.
- Testing in labs, such as server level testing, rack level testing, and liquid cooling testing.
In lieu of a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related field, plus two (2) years' experience as a Thermal Engineer or a related role, the employer will accept a Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related field, plus any amount of experience as a Thermal Engineer or a related role.
With a master's degree, this role requires any amount of experience with each of the following:
