THE ROLE: 

AMD's Data Center Platform Engineering Group (DPEG) is designing, building and delivering innovative technology infrastructure enabling the digital world.  We create cloud-enabling server solutions that help the world's leading companies turn their ideas into reality. We are in search of an experienced program manager with strong analytical, problem-solving and risk management skills. Ability to work efficiently and manage effective relationships in a cross-functional organization to meet commitments for successful customer program launches. Must be self-directed and work in complex and dynamic ecosystems. 

THE PERSON: 

As a Technical Program Manager you will partner with our cross functional teams to manage customer accounts and their portfolio, understand our customers platforms/solutions. Identify and document customer requirements and establish engineering schedules. Drive AMD product solution deliverables and alignment with customers' platforms to ensure highest level customer satisfaction throughout their product lifecycle.  

 

You are accustomed to working in a dynamic, geographically distributed agile team, where partnership and collaboration are paramount. You possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong organization, and attention to detail. With a keen interest in data, you will draw on your strong technical background, analytical capabilities, and interpersonal skills to drive process improvements, improve program operations, and engage with key partners at all levels, from driving technical discussions with developers through to communication with executives.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Work closely with Engineering Managers, Software Developers, Test Architects and Engineers, Product Managers and Program Managers to support project planning and execution
  • Help develop and implement effective and repeatable operational processes and procedures
  • Work hand-in-hand with engineering counterparts across the global sites to plan/align budget, head count, and find operational efficiencies
  • Work with the operations, program management, and engineering teams to develop tools and systems to track and analyze key engineering and program metrics and help drive process improvement
  • Participate in the development of project plans and schedules; must be able to develop and improve processes for project tracking and risk mitigation
  • Support engineering management with resource planning (people and materials), as well as driving execution
  • Improve tracking, reporting, and forecasting by developing dashboards and automations
  • Develop documentation and training materials
  • Collect, analyze, organize and publish data via dashboards and recurring status reports
  • Provide general operational support for the AMD Platform Field Engineering Team.

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience working in complex, interrelated software projects and programs using agile and waterfall methodologies
  • Strong data analysis and presentation skills
  • Comfortable with Jira and Confluence
  • Experience with Microsoft Project
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Conflict management and stakeholder relationship management
  • Experience with project delivery across multiple time zones
  • Ability to lead process improvement initiatives across teams by providing training and support
  • Experience with data visualization concepts and tools such as Power BI
  • Experience with Business Intelligence
  • Knowledge of relevant domains such as high-performance computing, artificial intelligence, and GPU Server development
  • Formal project management education, PMP / Scrum Master

 

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS: 

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer/Electrical Engineering
