THE ROLE:

An experienced Thermal Engineer is required to work on thermal solutions for engineering design and characterization of next-generation SOC, FPGA, and ASIC products. This role involves collaboration with cross-functional teams, including packaging, electrical, mechanical, and component suppliers. Responsibilities include conducting thermal simulations, testing, and characterization to validate and improve thermal models and solutions for high-performance computing systems.

 

THE PERSON:

The ideal candidate for the Thermal Engineer role possesses strong communication and problem solving skills, has a keen attention to detail and an independent work ethic.


KEY RESONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform die/package/system-level thermal modeling to analyze and optimize thermal performance.
  • Develop and execute test plans for hardware and thermal technologies.
  • Lead external vendors on design, testing, and production.
  • Support thermal design from concept through manufacturing readiness.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure technical alignment.
  • Research advanced thermal management materials and solutions.
  • Maintain documentation, guidelines, and tools for design processes.
  • Communicate clearly and collaborate in a team-oriented environment.

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Strong background in heat transfer fundamentals (conduction, convection, radiation).
  • Expertise in conducting CFD simulations with thermal modeling tools (e.g., Icepak, AEDT, Flotherm, FlothermXT) to predict thermal profiles and cooling performance.
  • Proficiency with CFD modeling tools (e.g., Icepak) and thermal testing (e.g., DAQ, LabVIEW, thermocouples, airflow measurements, thermal chambers).
  • Ability to perform preliminary design estimations and post-processing sanity checks.
  • Knowledge of air and liquid cooling techniques, and experience with testing equipment (wind tunnels, thermal chambers, heat-sinks, cold plates).
  • Familiarity with programming languages (e.g., Python) for data analysis and tool development.
  • Experience with CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo) for thermal and mechanical compliance.
  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a cross-functional team.
  • Strong technical documentation skills and excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Experience in vendor-supplier management and marketing/AE technical support.

 

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
