Job Summary

Anord Mardix, a Flex company, are a global group that manufactures switchgear and associated products for installation in mission-critical and live commercial buildings ranging from data centres to the international headquarters of some of the world's largest companies.

To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we're looking to add a Production Manager located in Blackburn, UK.

Reporting to the Head of Production, the Production Manager will be responsible for managing production teams, processes and collaboration with other departments, to ensure agreed quality of finished products within agreed timeframes and budgets.   

What a typical day looks like:

  • Positively challenge safety breaches, report and encourage reporting (including near misses) through company systems e.g. AIR

  • Drive Lean/5S principles through Production areas

  • Ensure team work to identify any areas of improvement and encourage best practice.

  • Support the development of the Manufacturing Excellence strategy

  • Drive improvement activity and encourage best practice in all delivery

  • To create and manage Key Performance Indicators for all Production processes

  • Assisting the Head of Production and project planning department

  • Collaborate with Project Management and Sales to feedback changes and cost saving

  • Minimise any additional costs that may be incurred during the production process and report when and why additional costs have been incurred and how they can be avoided next time.

  • Liaise with appropriate stakeholders to ensure customer requirements are delivered

  • Liaise with Management to ensure the team has the necessary resources to achieve deadlines

  • Motivating and organising staff

  • To redeploy team to assist other departments and/or teams as and when require

  • Manage direct reports to ensure standards of behaviour and discipline are met and maintained

  • Support recruitment process for shop floor

  • Identify training needs for both new and existing staff.

  • To manage team absence and attendance of direct reports effectively e.g. authorise holidays, overtime, return to work interviews (as examples) to ensure production is not disrupted

  • Support the management of appraisal process to shop floor employees

The experience we're looking to add to our team:

  • Previous experience within a Heavy Industrial / Manufacturing role, ideally with electrical knowledge

  • Experienced in Continuous Improvement / LEAN Manufacturing with good understanding of processes

  • Strong people management skills

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills

  • Strong Microsoft Office skills
