Summary:

 

Reporting to the Quarry Superintendent, the Quarry Supervisor is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the Ogden Quarry and for ensuring obstacle free flow of limestone to Mississauga Plant. The Quarry Supervisor must also ensure that all the functions are closely integrated to attain an optimal level of performance.

 

What you'll be contributing:

 

  • Promote and follow all plant safety guidelines.

  • Quarry Supervisor will be responsible and accountable for all quarry operations under the direction of Ogden Point Quarry Manager

  • The incumbent is directly responsible for the management of the safety, performance, including individual personnel development of over 16 employees

  • Responsible for the planning, utilization of manpower, equipment, inventory control and cost management

  • Quarry mining development both long and short term quarry operations following approved mining plans

  • Lead both production and maintenance to enable the effective control of daily operations

  • Plan and coordinate the production process and shipping to meet Mississauga limestone production needs

  • Help establish and report on quarry budget as well as advising on CAPEX needs

  • Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety legislation including quarry Health and Safety Programs and policies in all daily operations

  • Maintain and promote ISO 14000 and 9001

  • Liaison with the safety advisor in his/her effort towards compliance with safety policies and training & development; carry out safety training on site in accordance with M.O.L. and health & safety legislation

  • Represent CRH in dealing with the M.O.E., M.O.L., and M.N.R.  Explosive Regulatory Division & Ministry of Transport (Canada) & community, during onsite visits and as required

  • Act as Port Security Officer & maintain records required by Ministry of Transport to ensure port security permit is retained

  • Participates in activities related to positive community relation

  • Support efforts to provide necessary rehabilitation to site, in accordance with approved site plans

  • Maintaining and ordering adequate inventory of supplies and materials

  • Support efforts to provide necessary rehabilitation to site, in accordance with approved site plans

  • Site security of all quarry properties and facilities

  • Provide support and guidance in labor contract negotiations; and maintain relationship between company and bargaining agent

  • Provide analysis of site's production capacity, in relation to variations in market demands, contractor performance, and contractor bid evaluation

  • Payroll and administrative duties

  • Parts Ordering and Inventory and Spare Parts Management

  • CSR, Volunteer and Community Meetings

  • Vendor Management

  • Production Planning and MTCE Scheduling PM's

  • Additional duties as assigned by the manager

 

To succeed in this position, you will need:

 

  • Ability to read, write and understand warning labels, instructions, signs, etc.

  • Minimum of a University Degree or College Diploma in Engineering or Geology an asset

  • Minimum of 3 years experience in the aggregate industry, with 3 of those years in a supervisory position

 

Knowledge/Skills Required

  • Must have knowledge of MS Office

  • Knowledge of SAP an asset

  • Ability to deal effectively with unionized employees

  • High level of technical understanding

  • Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation

  • Work Continental shift and standard shift when required Monday – Sunday – 6am-6pm

  • Candidate must be able to engage employees
