Barnstable Academy - Director of Student Development
Pay Range: $55,000-$61,000 annually
Position Summary:
The Director of Student Development (DSD) is in charge of managing the operational elements of the student experience from initial enrollment through graduation. This includes:
The DSD is a robust role serving both student and business capacities. This requires skills in counseling, customer service, sales, report interpretation, and data entry. The DSD must have thorough knowledge of high school graduation requirements. Strong communication skills and the ability to learn new systems quickly are crucial to success in this role. Our ideal candidate is an outgoing, well-organized individual who is eager to work in a highly dynamic, energetic, year-round school setting. Candidates must have a minimum of a bachelor's degree for consideration.
Responsibilities
- Own the contracting process for parents which includes creating contracts for each term and managing course changes. Contracting also includes intentional messaging regarding Barnstable enrollment policies (Naples, Edge, refund policies, payment options, absence policies, and withdrawal procedures).
- Create and review contracts for completeness and accuracy.
- Assist parents with payment procedures and questions using the Billing Portal, and facilitate communication with the Account Specialist.
- Manage the campus master schedule matrix.
- Complete and review contract for completeness and accuracy.
- Maintain updated student information (grade level, status, etc.) in the Student Information System.
- Own the planning and execution of re-enrollment, including registration, course planning, scheduling, and contracting for the full year (fall, winter, spring, and summer terms).
- Maximize student schedules by offering courses and programs to meet the individual student's needs. (Enrichment and Elective Classes)
- Own the substitute teacher plan on campus (sub list available), delegate as needed, and communicate plan with leadership team, teachers, and families.
- Utilize available reports to ensure that courses do not start without payment, and maintain ongoing, effective communication with the Account Specialist.
- Manage ongoing schedule additions, removals, or changes, and delegate where appropriate.
- Ensure timely communication with all families and teachers around schedule changes
- Support with events and programming
- Plan and execute building safety drills following state compliance
- Provide a celebrity experience to all stakeholders (parents, teachers, students, and administrators) through the contracting and scheduling process.
Requirements
Required Education and Experience:
- Minimum of a Bachelor's degree is required.
- A background in education or guidance counseling is preferred.
- Patience and a problem-solving approach to issues.
- Working knowledge of high school graduation requirements.
