The Basics

Location: St Joseph, MO

Duration: This will be a part time or seasonal position during harvest, approximately Aug 1st to Nov 30th. Exact dates will depend on weather conditions around St Joseph

Compensation: $21/hr for 1st shift, $23/hr for 2nd shift

Days/Hours: We are hiring for both 1st and 2nd shift

• The usual hours for 1st shift will be 6:30am to 3:00pm, Mon-Fri. You may work up to 12 hours as needed, between 3:00am to 3:00pm
• The usual hours for 2nd shift will be 2:45pm to 11:15pm, Mon-Fri. You may work up to 12 hours as needed, between 3:00pm to 3:00am
• No matter the shift, you will be called in 'off shift' to help clean rail cars when we have a train to load
• You will work weekends as needed

Equipment Used: Various grain handling equipment, mainly conveyors and legs

Material Handled: Bulk commodities: wheat, corn, soybeans, etc

What you'll be doing:

The duties of this hands-on job will include grain receiving, storage, handling, drying, blending, and loading of grain; monitoring stored grain condition; and maintaining and cleaning grain facilities and equipment to provide a safe environment for you and fellow Team Members.  Grain Elevator Operators will be cross-trained to perform a variety of tasks. 

Requirements to be successful in this position:

• High school diploma or GED
• Reliable transportation
• For safety reasons, must be able to read, write, understand and follow written and/or verbal instructions in English
• Available to work overtime and weekends
• Professional demeanor (safety conscious, quality of job performance, cleanliness, and verbal communications)
• Able to pass a criminal background check

• This job can be physically strenuous
• You will be expected to be able to work in tight and confined spaces
• You will work at heights
• You will need the ability to frequently lift, push and pull up to 50 pounds and occasionally more
• This job will require the ability to ascend/descend ladders
