The Basics Shipping and Receiving Operator 1 is an entry level role designed to introduce Team Members to a busy soybean receiving and oil & meal shipping department. Location: Cherryvale, KS Compensation: $22/hr and up Days/Hours: This will be a day shift job, 6:30am to 3pm, Mon-Fri. Housekeeping and organizational skills are an essential part of this job. Specific Job Duties: Follow all safety policies and procedures, actively contributing to a strong safety culture. Perform sampling and grading task for all products that are received and loaded on trucks and railcars. Complete all rail safety trainings and follow all rail policies associated with this site. Have a basic understanding of how to operate a locomotive within the first 3 months of employment. Have a basic understanding of the track layout for the site and how to operate rail switches. Develop a basic understanding on how to load trucks & railcars through the use of CompuWeigh and the Human Machine Interface system. Be able to work on top of stationary and moving railcars while using an overhead fall protection system. Be able to unload railcars and identify any issues associated with unloading cars and report these issues. Be able to show a basic understanding on how to load Soybean Oil into trailers and railcars. Operate and monitor equipment through CompuWeigh and the Human Machine Interface system. Perform any and all housekeeping tasks which will include using compressed air and making entry into grain bins to clean. Knowledgeable and compliant with all Good Manufacturing Practices standards. Complete training and follow all policies associated with food production and handling. Have a basic understanding of the facility buildings, grounds, and equipment so you will be able to identify issues, perform light maintenance, and complete minor repairs. Collaborate with team members and supervisors to support continuous improvement and maintain a team-oriented work environment. Perform other duties assigned to support overall plant operation. Shipping & Receiving Operators will be cross trained to perform a variety of tasks. Requirements to be successful in this position: High school diploma or GED Experience in a processing plant, refinery, mill, or elevator is preferred Reliable transportation For safety reasons, must be able to read, write, understand and follow written and/or verbal instructions in English Available to work overtime and weekends Professional demeanor (safety conscious, quality of job performance, cleanliness, and verbal communications) Able to pass a criminal background check Here are some of the physical requirements for this role: This job can be physically strenuous You will be expected to be able to work in tight and confined spaces You will work at heights You will need the ability to frequently lift, push and pull up to 50 pounds and occasionally more This job will require the ability to ascend/descend ladders You will be required to wear PPE
