Assistant Maintenance Manager

Job Summary:

Bassett Furniture is seeking an Assistant Maintenance Manager at our Martinsville and Bassett manufacturing facilities. This position will assist in maintenance and repairs of all equipment and facility maintenance at both locations. The Assistant Maintenance Manager should have knowledge of dust collection systems, CNC routers, plumbing and electrical.

Duties/Responsibilities:

· Must be trained and certified to drive a box truck.

· Help develop and perform preventative maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and ensure maximum production efficiency and output.

· Inspects and identifies equipment or machines in need of repair.

· Troubleshoots issues to determine necessary repairs.

· Assist in performing general repairs that do not require a specialized technician. Examples may include repairing drywall, painting, and repairing doors and other building fixtures.

· Performs routine maintenance on building systems.

· Cleans and assists with upkeep of the facilities, including mowing, mulching, and general landscaping.

· Work with and assist with coordinating outside construction and maintenance contractors as necessary.

· Knowledge of safety procedures and OSHA regulations, lockout/tagout, fall prevention, etc.

· Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

· Experience in industrial maintenance, preferably in a furniture manufacturing environment.

· Ability to follow instructions from supervisors or senior maintenance workers.

· Knowledge of general carpentry and repair.

· Ability to use hand tools and power tools.

· Excellent organizational and time management skills.

Education and Experience:

· High school diploma or equivalent required.

· Related experience preferred.

· On-the-job training offered.

Physical Requirements:

· Prolonged periods standing and walking.

· Must be physically able to climb ladders, bend, or crawl into awkward spaces.

· Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
