With general supervision from the Director of Accessibility & Student Support Services, the Assistant Director of Accessibility & Student Support Services will assist the college in meeting federal requirements under Title IX of the Education Amendments of the 1972 Civil Rights Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and other various state laws, the Assistant Director will support in leading the Student Accessibility Services office by interacting with students, faculty, and staff to approach disability from a social model lens. There is nothing wrong with having a disability and SAS plays a critical role in removing institutional barriers. The Assistant Director will meet with students to determine appropriate accommodations, train them on how to use note-taking software as part of their accommodations, and will work with students if any concern arises regarding their accommodations. As part of a key team member of SAS, this Assistant Director will play pivotal role in raising awareness to the campus community regarding disability, making digital materials accessible, and will build effective relationships across campus to build an inclusive environment for students with disabilities.
This position also performs a critical role in the CARE Team (team of staff and faculty devoted to the well-being and health of students. The Assistant Director will be heavily involved in the day to day operations of the CARE Team by conducting outreach to students of concern, reviewing incoming reports to determine urgency, alerting the appropriate staff when critical issues arise, gathering additional information from reporters and related individuals, help students identify relevant resources, and make referrals to appropriate on-campus departments. They will also collaborate with the Director of Accessibility & Student Support Services to analyze program data and assist with promoting CARE Team services to increase awareness within the campus community. The Assistant Director will have an emphatic and understanding approach to their work when supporting a diverse group of students.
As the Assistant Director of Accessibility & Student Support Services, it is expected that the following qualities will be demonstrated daily: a high degree of understanding and empathy for all students, faculty, staff, and visitors, as well as the ability to encourage the inclusion of all voices in decision-making, promoting equity in all areas, and actively working against institutionalized norms of oppression against historically marginalized people.

Supervising Position: Director of Accessibility & Student Support Services
Essential DutiesStudent Accessibility Services (SAS) Leadership:
- Conduct Access Meetings with students. Access Meeting are when SAS staff have interactive conversations with students to determine what accommodations are appropriate for them that are consistent with the Americans with Disabilities Act, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and Cascadia policies and procedures.
- Provide one-on-one trainings for Genio (note-taking software) to students registered with SAS Develop and promote trainings in multiple modalities to serve students based on their needs.
- Collaborate with Director of Accessibility & Student Support Services to develop and implement departmental policies and procedures.
- Play a key role in developing and coordinating disability positive programming with campus and community partners.
- Advise the campus community on how to make documents and PDFs for the college to be aligned with the updates Title II of the ADA surrounding digital accessibility.
- Build effective relationships with faculty to ensure compliance and an equitable environment regarding students' academic accommodations and needs in the classroom.
- Facilitate the delivery of the accommodations to meet student needs in a timely manner.
- Analyze data pertaining to SAS to report back to the campus community.
CARE Team Management
- Active member of the CARE Team which is devoted to the health and well-being of all students at Cascadia.
- Serve as a main responder on the CARE Team. CARE Team main responders will conduct initial outreach to students of concern in order to connect them with vital resources.
- Review incoming reports for immediacy of concerns and inform the appropriate staff of critical situations.
- Contact reporters and related individuals to gather additional information.
- Assist students in exploring appropriate resources and making referrals to other campus departments such as the academic Health and Wellness Resource Center (HaWRC), Bock Learning Center, Disability Resources for Students, etc.
- Collaborate with the Director of Accessibility & Student Support Services (Chair of CARE Team) to analyze data regarding program services.
- Assist in outreach and promotion of the CARE Team to the campus community to raise awareness about provided services.

Education & Experience
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in public health, special education, sociology, psychology, or another related field.
- Demonstrated ability to manage sensitive information and act with discretion when working with individuals with different abilities or who¿ve experienced trauma.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities in a professional setting.
- Experience analyzing data in a professional setting.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Demonstrated commitment to and interest in diversity, equity and inclusion and the ability to support a multicultural workplace and educational environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Masters degree in public health, special education, sociology, psychology, or another related field.
- Experience working in higher education
- Knowledge of laws and regulations the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and other relevant related laws
- Experience supporting and providing interventions to individuals in crisis
- Strong oral and/or written communication skills.
Physical Work Environment
Semi-Sedentary Work: Involves staying in a stationary position to a significant degree. Jobs are sedentary if moving is required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
The College is currently in hybrid operations, with many assignments completed in an online environment during this time. Full-time employees are expected to be on-campus at least three (3) days per week with the option to work remotely for the remainder of their working days. This position will perform work in a standard office setting, use standard office equipment and physically attend meetings both on and off campus and requires the ability to communicate in person or through appropriate means.
Positions in this class typically require operating a computer, communicating, observing, and repetitive motions.
This position involves exerting between 10-30 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently to transport, put, install, remove, or otherwise move objects, with or without reasonable accommodation.
