Opportunity Description  

Seattle Central College is looking to hire a Budget Analyst in the Business Office. 

Salary Range for this position is $68,016 to $89,232 annually (depending on experience). 

Opportunity is open until filled, first review of materials will begin February 19th, 2026.  

Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Associate Director and Director of Budget and Business Office, the Budget Analyst (Fiscal Analyst 4) will be responsible for coordination and monitoring of special fund budgets. Review, process, and/or approve expenditure documents, transfer documents, capital project requests, and service the colleges for billing for Auxiliary Services and the Foundation and other contracts as needed. The position will also perform bookstore reconciliation and other reconciliations as directed. Manage and implement planning and project improvement efforts required by the college.

This position is full-time, working 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, primarily 8:00am to 5:00pm.

This position works a hybrid schedule of both remote and on-site work.

This position is governed by a collective bargaining agreement with representation by WFSE.

What you will be working on:

  • Coordinate and monitor budget accounts for operating, contract, capital, and other budgets as assigned. Maintain detailed and accurate budget, financial and project records. 
  • Approve and setup appropriate budget accounts, and budget revisions, including proper and accurate budget coding, and input appropriate data in financial system. 
  • Provide guidance to, and work collaboratively with, fiscal point employees in unit, divisional, and program offices in developing, establishing, and revising budgets; conducting cost estimates, projections, and forecasts across all major campus programs. 
  • Coordinate budget analysis for the colleges, budget and project managers for fee codes and contracts. 
  • Manage, lead and/or coordinate budget and finance projects as required by college leadership or initiatives. 
  • Prepare allocation of budgets and Certificates of Participation by college, by appropriation, and by fund type. 
  • Independently prepare budget status and analytical reports using Excel, Word, Access, and/or database reporting tools, including financial status reports to campus personnel on a periodic schedule. 
  • Respond to budget concerns from departments, research root cause of discrepancy and work with appropriate department to refine process to prevent errors from upstream. 
  • Upon request, provide conclusions and recommendations for corrective action and/or improvement of related college operations; proactively monitor the results and as indicated provide appropriately necessary follow-up communication to administrative personnel. 
  • Assist in the daily monitoring of the college's financial activity, including but not limited to account payables (Purchase requisitions, invoice voucher, credit card), account receivable (customer invoicing and payment), and interdepartmental transfers. Work closely with district and college personnel to reconcile account balances. 
  • Monitor the budgetary elements of position control and advise the Director of Budget and Business Office on necessary fiscal resources and fiscal impacts in position changes across the campus. 
  • Analyzes complex financial and statistical data and determine their significance; prepare comprehensive narrative statements supporting complex financial reports; Ensures proper accounting techniques and controls are used. Develops testing procedures; 
  • Interpret and disseminate information regarding budget rules, regulations, polices, and procedures, pertaining to grant, contract, capital, and other budgets, as necessary and appropriate. 
  • Serve as campus representative in meetings with external agencies and vendors as assigned. 
  • Interpret budget directives and follow policies for carrying out directives. 
  • Create, prepare, and process invoices and other documentation for grants and contracts. 
  • Responsible for part time faculty contracts and also coordinate with department to generate the contracts for each quarter. 
  • Serve as backup to other positions in the Business Office department. 
  • Responds to Help Desk tickets as assigned.

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related field, related experience may substitute for a degree. 
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, prioritize, and meet deadlines; to accurately perform complex mathematical and statistical calculations; to perform assigned duties consistent with applicable laws and procedures. 
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, analyze, document and monitor budgets and appropriations. 
  • Demonstrated ability to use Microsoft Office products for fiscal and statistical, presentations and report generation. 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and procedures. 
  • Demonstrated ability to develop complex cost/benefit, cost allocation, and forecasting models. 
  • Familiarity operating within state rules, regulations, codes, and policies. 
  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize complex ideas and communicate them in an understandable way to others 
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize, stay on task with frequent interruptions, and meet work deadlines. 
  • Demonstrated high degree of attention to detail and accuracy in work. 
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment with minimal supervision. 
  • Demonstrated experience  working with ERP and other financial systems.
