This position is expected to begin Fall 2025 and will be a part of a cohort of new faculty joining the Bellevue College community.

Bellevue College is committed to inclusive teaching, shared governance and interdisciplinary collaboration. Full-time instructors teach 15 credits (typically 3 courses) per quarter and hold a minimum of five office hours per week. Additional responsibilities include student advising and mentoring, shared governance, curriculum development, program management, and ongoing professional development. The Marketing Department specifically values student empowerment, community engagement, and global citizenship, and is committed to equity, anti-oppression, and social justice. This position is represented by the Bellevue College Association of Higher Education (BCAHE) union.

The selected candidate will perform duties and functions under the direction of the Office of Academic Affairs and will be directly responsible to the Division Dean of the School of Business & Technology. Full-time faculty teach in face-to-face settings and synchronous and asynchronous virtual settings, and are expected to deliver in-person classes or a combination of in-person and virtual classes. 

Pay, Benefits & Work Schedule  

Position Salary Range: $81,757.08/year - $114,664.94/year

Annual salary is based on a 176-day contract with a minimum of $81,757.08; beginning salary will be determined by the assessment of the candidate's education and related experience. New hires start no higher than $87,663.74 unless exceptional circumstances prevail. Certain positions may also be eligible for assignment/project-based additional compensation, including a High Demand Stipend up to $8,350 annually, prorated based on the discipline and duration of the assignment. All additional compensations are subject to change depending on funding and negotiated agreement.

We offer comprehensive compensation package with salary and benefits as the main components. Generous benefits package is offered through Washington State plans that includes multiple medical, dental, life and disability coverage choices for employees and dependents; choices of retirement and deferred compensation plans; paid personal leave plan; transit program, reduced tuition, employee discounts and memberships, etc.

In addition to teaching, full-time faculty maintains office hours and participate in department and college activities. This position is represented by the Bellevue College Association of Higher Education (BCAHE) union.

About the Department  

The Marketing Department at Bellevue College values student-centered teaching and learning. We serve a diverse student body, offering Associate degrees for first and second year students and a Bachelors degree for third and fourth year students. Our courses are offered in multiple teaching modalities, including online, hybrid, and face-to-face. We are committed to teaching, governance, and activism that not only serves the campus community but also contributes to the broader community.

Essential Functions  

Bellevue College seeks a forward-thinking educator who is committed to using their expertise in Marketing as a vehicle for change, empowerment, and inclusion. The successful candidate will exhibit a passion for education and a commitment to student success, fulfilling responsibilities that include but are not limited to:

Teaching and Students:

  • Teach bachelors and associates level marketing courses with an emphasis on digital marketing platforms. That may include display media, paid search / Search Engine Marketing (SEM), Search Engine Optimization (SEO), online video ads and content marketing, mobile marketing, social media content and advertising, media buying and planning, measurement and analytics, marketing research, web design, ecommerce, relationship marketing, event marketing, public relations, branding, and consumer behavior.
  • Provide culturally responsive guidance and advising with an emphasis on the needs of historically marginalized student populations as they navigate courses and college systems.
  • Promote the marketing program and its various degrees to both internal and external audiences 
  • Help recruit students from a diverse population
  • Prepare and implement lessons, and assess student learning outcomes using a variety of methods
  • Lead experiential learning activities, such as coaching Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA) and managing capstone projects, to help students apply their business and marketing skills  
  • Provide mentorship and ongoing guidance in student career development
  • Hold at least five weekly office hours and generally assist students in person one-on-one and/or both through electronic media and in-person.
  • Foster a positive, caring, equitable learning environment where diversity, equity, and inclusion are advanced
  • Teach per the required schedule. May need to teach in the afternoons and after 5pm

Currency and Relevancy:

  • Expand on their current knowledge and skills in marketing and business with a high degree of intellectual curiosity and a growth mindset
  • Earn industry certifications each year to align with industry needs
  • Accept an ownership stake in developing and enhancing curriculum for the courses in the marketing program
  • Participate in professional development activities related to industry in accordance with requirements

Community:

  • Support current and recruit new advisory committee members to gain buy-in from local employers and generate positive word of mouth for our program
  • Innovate with colleagues at other colleges, businesses, or professional organizations to create real-world opportunities for students that extend beyond the classroom
  • Represent the college in community events or statewide inter-institutional initiatives, with a special emphasis on experiential learning through intercollegiate competition
  • Actively participate in department and college-wide governance
  • Support and mentor adjunct faculty within our department, as well as peers in the School of Business and Technology and across all of Bellevue College 
  • Perform other reasonable duties and functions that may be assigned by the President, the Executive Dean or the Division Chair or Program Chair
Minimum Qualifications  
  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Marketing, Business, Communications, or related discipline. The education should reflect specific training in digital marketing.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of relevant industry or professional work experience with hands-on digital marketing.
  • A minimum of three (3) relevant marketing industry certifications (example: Salesforce, Google Ads, Google Analytics, HubSpot, SEMrush, Facebook, Marketo, and Tableau).
  • Effective written and oral communication skills, especially intercultural communication skills. 
  • Demonstrated ability to connect and build relationships with diverse students and colleagues. 
     
Preferred Qualifications  
  • A Master's degree from an accredited institution in Marketing, Business, Communications, or related discipline. The education should reflect specific training in digital marketing
  • A minimum of one (1) year of teaching or structured training experience  
  • Demonstrated ability to teach in a multi-cultural, multi-ability classroom and advocate for diverse learners
  • Experience with strategy and execution in the areas of video content, social media, and data measurement and analytics
  • Dedication to increasing inclusivity and closing opportunity gaps for historically marginalized students with intentional curriculum and instruction design
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and in an inclusive manner with a diverse faculty, staff, and student population 
  • Record of active contribution to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion efforts, whether through teaching, professional service, or community engagement.
  • Previous leadership experience in an academic or professional setting, such as serving as a program chair, department head, team lead, or other significant leadership roles
  • Experience with handling data and drawing insights from data sets
  • Experience with Salesforce and other CRM tools
  • Experience with purchasing online ads and programmatic buying tools
  • Experience with content creation across digital platforms
