Position Summary
The Network+ instructor is entrusted with delivering a top-tier educational experience for IT professionals to prepare for the CompTIA Network+ certification. Key duties encompass the regular updating of the curriculum, creation of dynamic courses, and provision of student support, both in group settings and one-on-one. Candidates must hold an Associate's degree in computer science, information technology, cybersecurity, engineering, or a related field, a CompTIA Network+ certification, and minimum of 3 years of experience acquired by full-time working in the field of IT networking. Demonstrated communication and presentation skills are essential. Candidates with a Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, information technology, cybersecurity, engineering, or a related field, additional certifications, such as Cisco CCNA and CompTIA Security+ and CySA+, and experience in developing course materials and curriculum design will be given preference.
Pay, Benefits & Work ScheduleAdjunct Professor is typically assigned as needed on a quarterly basis, with no expectation of continued employment beyond the current appointment.
Compensation is$42.77 - $80 per hour. Individuals newly hired to Adjunct Professor group at the college are placed at the minimum rate per union bargaining agreement. Certain positions may also be eligible for assignment/project-based additional compensation, including a High Demand Stipend up to $8,350 annually, prorated based on the discipline and duration of the assignment. All additional compensations are subject to change depending on funding and negotiated agreement.
Generous benefits package for eligible employees is offered through Washington State plans that includes multiple medical, dental, life and disability coverage choices for employees and dependents; choices of retirement and deferred compensation plans; paid personal leave plan; transit program, reduced tuition, employee discounts and memberships, etc. Eligible employees are faculty who work a combined load of at least 50% at Bellevue College and other Washington State public institutions of higher education for two consecutive quarters are eligible for health and dental insurance at the start of the second consecutive quarter.
In addition to teaching, faculty maintains office hours and may participate in department and college activities. This position is represented by the Bellevue College Association of Higher Education (BCAHE) union.

Essential Functions- Update and maintain the curriculum aligned with CompTIA Network+ certification objectives.
- Develop engaging courses, lesson plans, teaching aids, assessments, and hands-on exercises focused on the CompTIA Network+ certification.
- Meet all scheduled classes promptly with any deviation being filed promptly and accurately through the appropriate channels.
- Motivate students to actively participate in all aspects of the educational process.
- Provide one-on-one and group mentoring to support students in their learning journey.
- Address student questions and provide guidance on exam preparation.
- Stay updated with industry trends, emerging threats, and changes in the IT networking landscape and CompTIA Network+ certification requirements.
- Maintain expertise in subject area and ensure curriculum content remains up-to-date and relevant.
- Participate in departmental and college meetings as prescribed by supervisor.
- Associate's degree in computer science, information technology, cybersecurity, engineering, or a related field.
- Demonstrated understanding of networking, operating systems, cybersecurity principles, and the Network+ certification exam objectives.
- A current CompTIA Network+ certification.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience acquired by full-time working in the field of IT networking.
- Previous teaching or training experience.
- Demonstrated communication and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate learning of students/colleagues from diverse backgrounds.
- Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, information technology, cybersecurity, engineering, or a related field.
- Additional certifications, such as Cisco CCNA and CompTIA Security+ and CySA+.
- Familiarity with instructional technology and e-learning platforms.
- Experience in developing course materials and curriculum design.
- 4 years or more of experience working in the IT industry, including roles in networking technologies and configurations.
