Position Summary  

This position reports to the Director of Athletics and the Head Golf Coach; is responsible for all aspects of the golf program, including, training, performance of student-athletes, conditioning, planning and directing recruitment, scheduling of season, academic progress and fiscal management for Bellevue College golf program. The duties of this position must be conducted in adherence with the policies, rules and regulations of the Northwest Athletic Conference (NWAC) and Bellevue College.

Pay, Benefits & Work Schedule  

Adjunct faculty assigned as Assistant Head Coach will be paid a minimum of $3,991.18 per year per contract. However typical annual remuneration for this assignment is $4,000. This role would require 15-20 hours per week commitment once hired.

Projected end date of this assignment is June 30th each year and then continuation is based on annual renewal. Part-time faculty is typically assigned as needed on a quarterly basis, with no expectation of continued employment beyond the current appointment. Hired applicant may receive additional compensation in the form of stipends for additional assignments or participation in certain projects.

About the Department  

The philosophy of the athletic department is to provide athletic programs which promote skills that are applicable towards both athletic competition and personal development. These skills, include but are not limited to; time management, social skill interaction within a diverse population, multiple task handling, goal setting, and perseverance while attempting to reach athletic and academic goals.

Essential Functions  

Instruction:

  • Planning and implementing day to day practice and game strategies.
  • Providing feedback on daily basis of progress team is making and areas to work on.

Recruiting: 

  • Recruit student-athletes within the rules and regulations of Bellevue College and the NWAC.
  • Make eligible student-athletes aware of the eligibility requirements and expenses of attending BC.
  • Determine which players will be offered letters of intent and tuition waivers.
  • Assure all players understand the terms and conditions for receiving tuition waivers at BC.

 Fundraising: 

  • Plan, schedule and implement team fundraisers for teams revenue/foundation accounts.
  • Work with athletic department to ensure successful athletic department wide fundraisers.

Academic Support: 

  • Work with student-athlete and academic advisor to develop academic plan for each student-athlete.
  • Work with academic advisor and athletic staff to track player's academic progress.
  • Schedule year round study tables and progress reports.
     
Minimum Qualifications  
  • Golf coaching experience, high school, golf course or higher.
  • Valid drivers license and driving record check.
Preferred Qualifications  
  • Experience teaching advanced golf.
  • Strong organizational, management and communication skills with attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of NWAC, NCAA and USGA rules and regulations.
  • Knowledge of college policies and procedures, marketing/recruiting strategies and facility upkeep.
