Position Summary  

Perform parking enforcement in campus parking lots. Issue parking citations for all violations of the College's parking policy. Provide customer service duties including directing students, employees, and visitors to appropriate parking location as well as providing directions around campus. Provide assistance with parking meters. Assist Public Safety Officers with other parking and related issues. Only students of Bellevue College are eligible to apply. 

Pay, Benefits & Work Schedule  

Pay rate: $18/hour

The successful candidate is expected to work 19 hours per week. This position typically assigned as needed on a quarterly basis, with no expectation of continued employment beyond the current appointment. 

This position is expected to NOT be eligible for benefits because eligibility is limited only to employees working at least an average of 80 hours in eligible employment for more than 6 consecutive months and at least 8 hours a month. Eligible positions are eligible for certain benefits.

About the Department  

The Bellevue College (BC) Public Safety Department's well-trained and courteous staff provides personal safety, security, crime prevention, preliminary investigations, and other services to the campus community, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The Public Safety staff provide non-violent crisis intervention during incidents or confrontational situations. All Public Safety staff are trained in basic CPR and emergency response for major incidents (e.g., Weather Conditions, Earthquake, Medical Emergency, Power Failure, Fire, Evacuation Procedures, Acts of Violence, Hazardous Substances, Bomb Threats, Weapons Use or Threats). The BC Public Safety Department acts as the first responder for all criminal incidents, provides general patrol of campus facilities and property, investigates collisions, manages traffic safety and parking, coordinates emergency preparedness planning, and provides crime prevention programs. The department responds to all reports of fire and/or medical aid, working in support of the Bellevue Fire Department.

Essential Functions  

Parking Enforcement

  • Enforce campus parking and traffic rules 
  • Issue parking citations and warnings 
  • Assist with parking meters 

Provide customer service to the public, faculty, staff and students

  • Answer parking related questions 
  • Provide directions to students, employees, and visitors  
  • Communicate with Public Safety staff via two-way radio 

Assist Public Safety Officers  

  • Assist Public Safety Officers with parking and traffic related issues  
  • Set up traffic cones, caution tape and barriers 
  • Monitor parking lots 

Other

  • Perform other related duties as assigned    
Minimum Qualifications  
  • High school graduation or equivalent. 
  • Currently attending Bellevue College  
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain and uphold confidentiality  
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain integrity and honesty 
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to an environment that embraces diversity, equity, inclusion, and civility 
  • Demonstrated ability to provide customer service to students, staff and faculty of various¿ages and backgrounds  
  • Demonstrated ability to present and communicate in a positive, professional and respectful manner  
  • Demonstrated ability to take direction, receive feedback, adjust, and follow department chain of command 
Preferred Qualifications  
  • One (1) year work experience in Customer service  
  • Previous experience work with diverse population
