Position Summary
The Student Teaching Assistant will work closely with Computer Science faculty to support student learning and assist with course-related activities in various computer science courses throughout the quarter (e.g. CS 209, CS 300, and CS 401). Responsibilities may include leading review sessions, answering student questions, and providing feedback to faculty on student progress. This is a valuable opportunity for someone who wants to deepen their understanding of course content, strengthen communication skills, and support the success of fellow computer science students.
For Fall 2025, we are seeking:
- One teaching assistant for CS 209
- One teaching assistant for CS 300, section HA
Pay rate: $19.55/hour - $25.29/hour
The successful candidate is expected to work up to 5 hours per week. This position typically assigned as needed on a quarterly basis, with no expectation of continued employment beyond the current appointment. Typically, new hire starts no higher than $19.96 / hour.
This position is expected to NOT be eligible for benefits. Student employees are entitled to begin accruing paid sick leave from the start of their employment.

About the DepartmentThe Computer Science department oversees all computer science courses at Bellevue College and administers the four-year Bachelor of Science in Computer Science degree program. The program has a strong track record of preparing students for careers in the field through individualized support, industry-relevant curriculum, and a strong focus on job placement after graduation.
Essential Functions¿ Conduct 1- to 2-hour recitation sessions per week (Approx. 2 hours/week).
¿ Lead class discussions and answer student questions in person or virtually via Microsoft Teams or Zoom (Approx. 2 hours/week).
¿ Attend weekly faculty meetings to provide feedback to instructors on student progress and needs for excellence in teaching and learning (Approx. 1 hour/week).
¿ Assist with additional tasks as needed to support course instruction and student learning.
¿ Enrolled in the BS in Computer Science program at Bellevue College.
¿ Earned a grade of C or higher in the course for which the applicant is applying to be a teaching assistant.
For CS 209, successful completion of a more advanced course with a grade of C or higher (e.g., CS 210 or CS 211) is also acceptable.
¿ Effective verbal and written communication skills.
¿ Dependable, reliable with a friendly and welcoming attitude.
¿ Effective customer service skills, remain professional and follow department and BC policies.
¿ Ability to work with students and staff from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
¿ Ability to multi-task in an environment with possible ongoing interruptions.
¿ Ability to work independently and practice independent judgment.
¿ Resourceful, with the ability to locate and provide information.
¿ Experience working with Microsoft Office programs, especially Outlook at intermediate level.
At the time of hire, BC student must:
- Be in good standing with Student Conduct
While in the position, students must:
- Maintain student status (enrolled in academic credits) at Bellevue College (except Summer).
- Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 and not fall below a 2.5 quarterly GPA for more than one consecutive quarter.
- Remain in good standing with Student Conduct.
