Position Summary  

The Welcome Center supports prospective students throughout the admission process by offering information sessions, campus tours, and admission advising, as well as outreach to local organizations. Peer Educators enhance these efforts by providing direct support and connecting students with the appropriate people and departments.

This position provides valuable learning opportunities for students in any program/pathway but is especially so for students interested in fields such as education, counseling, psychology, sociology, social work, and higher education. 

This is a temporary part-time position and expected to end on 06/30/2026. Extension of the position pending on funding availability.
 

Pay, Benefits & Work Schedule  

Pay rate: $19.00/hour 

The successful candidate is expected to work 10 - 19 hours per week, depending on departmental needs. This position typically assigned as needed on a quarterly basis, with no expectation of continued employment beyond the current appointment. 

This position is expected to NOT be eligible for benefits. Student employees are entitled to begin accruing paid sick leave from the start of their employment.

About the Department  

Located in the Student Success Center (U Building), the Welcome Center operates the information desk and serves as the first point of contact for visitors, prospective students, parents, and current students. The center also engages in outreach with local schools and organizations.

Essential Functions  
  • Demonstrate a welcoming disposition, attitude, service, and active engagement with all students and staff. 
  • Use open-ended questions to understand each student¿s needs better and offer guidance that fits their situation. 
  • Help check visitors/students into the queue system called QLess for the student services at the U building (Drop-in Academic Advising, Drop-in Admission Advising, Enrollment Services, Evaluations & Graduation, Financial Aid, Placement & Testing Services, Student Financial Services).   
  • Assist prospective students by responding to inquiries in Uchat. Answer their questions to the best of our ability & provide the information needed, such as website links, department names, business hours, and contact information. 
  • Lead campus tours.
  • Provide other duties as assigned. 
     
Minimum Qualifications  
  • Currently enrolled Bellevue College student in good academic standing (minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0) and in good student conduct standing. 
  • Able to work in person on campus Monday¿Friday, with occasional Saturday shifts as needed. 
  • Experience in customer service and/or leadership roles. 
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. 
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity, empathy, and inclusive student support. 
  • Genuine interest in helping others and developing leadership abilities. 
  • Effective time management, organization, and prioritization skills. 
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

     
Conditions of Employment
