PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION

The primary purpose of the Supply Chain Supervisor- Logistics and Inventory position is to supervise, coordinate, and ensure quality outcomes with the basic logistic, inventory, and storeroom functions of the supply chain department.  The supervison will include but is not limited to maintaining an accurate inventory, ensuring the appropriate ordering, receiving, and distribution of products, evaluating all quality aspects of the system, ensuring appropriate use of BVHS resources, ensuring that the guidelines set forth in this job description are followed, and for complying with the supply chain policies and procedures established by BVHS and the supply chain leadership team.  This position will have oversite of the day to day logistical operations of the storeroom areas of all facilities and will ensure that quality control measures are met.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Duty 1: Coordinates and provides daily supervision for all logistics, inventory and storeroom functions in conjunction with the supply chain leadership team. Demonstrates the necessary analytical skills required to ensure that products are set up correctly within the inventory management system (IMS) and that the receiving, storage, and distribution of products support over-all best value for the lowest cost.
  • Duty 2:  Leads performance improvement related activities and establishes standard work for the department in conjunction with the supply chain leadership team.  Ensures that the actions of the department are consistent and produce positive outcomes that are measurable and quantifiable.
  • Duty 3:  Acts as role model and mentor for other storeroom and inventory associates.  Ensures teamwork that promotes results and that are consistent with the organization and department's goals.
  • Duty 4:  Able to perform all functions within the inventory and storeroom areas and routinely works in these areas.
  • Duty 5:  Able to perform basic buyer functions and has a strong working knowledge of all purchasing concepts.
  • Duty 6: Assists in the setup and maintenance of the inventory system for current and new supplies for BVHS.  Ensures that the inventory is kept current and accurate and ensures that the inventory is checked routinely for outdated and “short-dated” supplies.  The process includes developing methods for determining standard inventory levels and notifying the purchasing department and all affected departments of any pertinent information.
  • Duty 7: Maintains frequent interaction with distributors and the supplier network for any changes to the J.I.T. program, including frequent reviews with the purchasing department.  Ensures that the system remains lean and appropriate for the business activity at BVHS.
  • Duty 8: Assists the purchasing department and the accounting department with the EOC review and implementation of an inventory decrementation system to ensure the correct departments are charged with the correct supplies and to support accurate cost allocation and GL account number application.
  • Duty 9: Responsible for training various personnel in all aspects of the J.I.T. program and the non-stock requisitioning process.  Functions as the subject matter expert (SME) of the inventory and logistics system and will assist in supply chain department training.
  • Duty 10: Works closely with the Storeroom Coordinators and the Shipping and Receiving Coordinator to ensure inventory quantities are kept at the desired levels, to keep ‘out of stocks' at a minimum and over-stocked items distributed quickly to the end users or returned to the supplier, as appropriate. This includes frequent cross-training with these associates to help complete necessary functions during times of absence.
  • Duty 10: Maintains the disaster planning and action plan manual for the supply chain department which includes inventory maintenance on the disaster supply carts,  ensures pertinent planning and that necessary, up to date, supplies are readily at hand in case of a disaster plan activation.
  • Duty 10: Relays pertinent information in a timely manner to the supply chain leadership team to ensure excellent inner-department communication.
  • Duty 11:  Acts as a point person for supply chain logistics and inventory functions outside of the hospitals including BVMP, Findlay Surgery Center, and the Continuing Care Division.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain, business, healthcare or related field
  • Documented data analysis and performance improvement skills including Microsoft Excel
  • A valid driver's license is required (if you do not have a valid Ohio driver's license you must obtain one within 30 days of your residency in the state).  You must also meet BVHS's company fleet policy and insurance company requirements, and any other requirements that may be required to operate a vehicle.
     
  • Positive, service-oriented, interpersonal and communication skills
  • The individual must be able to physically handle the movement of supplies and equipment as detailed in ‘Physical Demands', shown below.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Lean/Six sigma yellow belt or higher preferred
  • Supervisory experience preferred
  • Accounts payable knowledge preferred
  • Additional continuing education and/or experience with inventory control practices, supplier contact, expediting and purchasing preferred

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This position requires a full range of body motion with intermittent walking, lifting, bending, climbing, squatting, kneeling, twisting, sitting and standing. The individual must be able to lift 50 or more pounds occasionally and 35 pounds frequently. The individual must be able to push and/or pull with the aid of a pallet jack (and in some instances the added assistance of another associate) up to 1200 pounds. The individual must be able to reach work above the shoulders. The individual must have good eye-hand coordination and fine finger dexterity. The associate must have excellent verbal communication skills to perform daily tasks. The associate must have corrected vision and hearing in the normal range. Some exposure to heat, noise, bodily injury and toxic substances.
