Diesel Mechanic
Full-Time Hourly Position + Competitive Benefit Package
Position based out of Bear Lake, Michigan

Your Role: As a Diesel Mechanic, you will maintain and repair Company vehicles as well as vehicles for commercial customers at our Bear Lake Service Center. You will receive work orders for scheduled maintenance. Inspect equipment and diagnose likely cause of problem described in order. Ensure that standard parts, supplies and tools are available for scheduled work. Contact suppliers to order special parts for repairs and/or to replenish inventory. You will be responsible for building and maintaining effective relationships with customers. You will contact customers with questions and updates on progress.
Communications Ability:
Strong communication skills and ability to deal tactfully and effectively at all levels within the work environment. Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical information, Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) regulations, and BCOC policies and procedures. Ability to prepare reports and to communicate, using effective verbal/listening skills with employee contacts made necessary in the performance of daily work activities.
Math Ability:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts and fundamentals with working knowledge to make computations using fractions, percentages, ratios and apply them to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with abstract and concrete variables.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an incumbent must possess average ability to work with word processing and spreadsheet applications, and possess basic abilities to utilize a computer as a communications tool.
Certifications and Licenses:
A valid class A CDL license is required. Certificates in HDT Brakes and Braking Systems, HDT Suspension/Steering Systems, and HDT Drive Train are recommended.

Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, an incumbent is exposed to activities near moving mechanical parts, fumes, electrical power sources, power tools, and variations in surrounding temperatures within the work environment. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to high. An incumbent is subject to emergency call-outs and scheduling outside normally scheduled hours including weekends.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this position an employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk and hear, and smell. An employee must frequently lift and/or move objects exceeding seventy-five (75) to one Hundred (100) pounds. Specific vision abilities required of this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
