Retail Inventory Analyst

Full-time Position + Competitive Benefit Package

Position based out of Bear Lake, Michigan

Role Responsibilities:

JOB PURPOSE:  

Monitor, analyze, audit, and problem-solve all aspects of retail inventory operations.

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business or closely related field, or an appropriate combination of education and experience as determined at the organization's sole discretion.
  2. Three to five years of comparable retail inventory analysis experience.
  3. Sound knowledge of financial standards and procedures. Proven ability to build and maintain models, i.e., reporting structures, and interpret large data sets, generating relevant insights/recommendations.
  4. Well-developed technology skills. Should be proficient in personal computing tools, e.g., MS Office. Should understand concepts and processes around POS and back office (accounting) software/data. Experience with PDI Enterprise, Verifone Commander POS, PDI Focal Point, and/or DM2 applications helpful.
  5. Strong critical thinking and knowledge of retail business processes, including exceptional analytical and creative problem solving skills.
  6. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with proven ability to develop and maintain effective business partner relationships. Experience with cross-functional project management.
  7. Demonstrated ability to work independently to meet operating deadlines.
  8. Valid driver's license with valid, current proof of auto insurance, reliable transportation, and the ability to travel to C-Stores and other locations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  1. Manages the inventory audit process. Works with appropriate resources to manage cycle counts.  Analyzes audit data; responsible to identify and resolve all variances.
  2. Functions as primary point of contact for external auditors. This includes, but is not limited to scheduling, oversight, internal coordination, and process management.
  3. Prepares and presents financial analyses of inventory related data, including sales, margins, purchases, adjustments, and other aspects of retail operations performance. Recommends standards and procedures to improve the inventory management process.
  4. Monitors inventory levels in all categories. Independently analyze data to identify inventory variances/discrepancies. Works cross-functionally with other functions to investigate and resolve.
  5. Corrects system inventory and financial records to resolve accounts payable out of balance conditions.
  6. Develops and documents inventory management procedures. Trains appropriate staff on invoice entry procedures to improve inventory management and reduce inventory costs.
  7. Reviews performance of all promotion and discount programs. Ensures process and data accuracy and integrity.  Prepares and presents analyses of promotion and discount financial, and recommends changes to improve program effectiveness.
  8. Develop and produce ad hoc reports from appropriate systems.
  9. Drive to company locations as needed.
  10. Follows company policies and procedures. Completes training within established deadlines.
  11. Other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

  1. Work is primarily performed in a climate-controlled office environment. Occasional site visits where work is performed in a retail sales environment.  
  2. Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  3. Extensive typing and/or data entry.
  4. Lifting up to 15 pounds.
  5. Physically qualified for a driver's license.
