BMC's dynamic corporate teams are strategic and trusted advisors to the global organization supporting, enhancing, and driving BMC's vision, culture, growth, and so much more. Each individual within the corporate teams is a valued partner to the overarching success of BMC's employees and customers. As a Finance Controller reporting to the Manager of EMEA Accounting, you will be part of a team that is responsible for the local statutory and US GAAP accounting (including oversight of the activities performed by the Financial Shared Services organization located in Pune, India), the statutory reporting and filing within the countries which it operates, compliance with internal control and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements for EMEA, corporate compliance and controlling for the region, consisting of 18 countries and 19 entities.
Here is how, through this exciting role, YOU will contribute to BMC's and your own success:
- Assist with the monthly and quarterly US GAAP close process for the EMEA region, ensuring that accounts are maintained accurately in accordance with US GAAP, management of corporate deadlines and reporting requirements, analyzing results, and ensuring quality control processes are adhered to and are effective.
- Assist with the annual statutory accounts filing process for certain entities across the EMEA region, including coordination with audit firms, legal and tax providers, and company directors necessary for completion of the filing process.
- Assist with various SOX compliance processes on a monthly and quarterly basis as it relates to the above entities.
- Review trial balances and financial reports to determine if any corrections are required via analytical review combined with in-depth review of specific risk areas.
- Perform variance analysis of balance sheet and income statement to identify potential errors.
- Review and approve balance sheet account reconciliations.
- Review accounting compliance with intercompany contracts as well as review all tax and social security expenses and income tax accounts to ensure completeness of information.
- Review and prepare audit documentation (including coordination and review of documentation prepared by the Financial Shared Service Center).
- Work closely with the other team-mates and departments to forecast cash requirements and entity profitability.
- Assist with various ad-hoc projects and other non-core tasks, as and when required. This may include, but is not limited to:
- Acquisition and liquidation of certain entities
- Working capital forecasts
- Implementation of new systems
- Input on adjustments to business processes
- Establishing relationships with 3rd party vendors, consultants and service providers
To ensure you are set up for success, you will bring the following skillset & experience:
- You hold a degree in a Higher Professional Economics/Accounting education or a university degree (Bachelor/Masters). Completion of the Romanian CECCAR chartered accountant qualification or a CPA-equivalent education (such as ACCA/CIMA) is a plus
- You have 3-5+ years of accounting/controllership experience, preferably in an international environment
- Your background includes experience working with accounting systems, preferably Oracle Financials, OneStream, MicroStrategy and Windows-based software applications
- Be a flexible self-starter, and able to work on their own initiative
- Be a team player and support others where possible to reach the overall team objectives
- Have attention to detail
- Must have business level English
