Join us in Helix as our Public Sector Program Director This role ensures BMC Helix is positioned as a trusted partner in the public sector by combining technical sales leadership, compliance expertise, and strategic event presence.



The Helix Public Sector Program Director supports BMC Helix's public sector solution sales strategy and execution, ensuring compliance with federal/state/provincial standards, supporting trade shows, and driving customer success across U.S. and Canadian markets. This role bridges technical expertise, complex enterprise solution development, governmental processes and regulatory requirements, sales leadership, significant high-level customer facing interaction and internal and external executive engagement.
Key Responsibilities • Sales & Strategy
  • Drive large-scale public sector enterprise solution initiatives and support field sales teams, GOSI account managers and partners.
  • Lead capture strategy and executive interface for large, complex, enterprise public sector programs.
  • Act as hub for technical and regulatory questions across the BMC ecosystem.
  • Leverage aggregate market and customer base knowledge to anticipate and identify potential issues in advance; formulate strategies for Public Sector VP consideration and, once decided, execute senior leadership plans with a minimum of supervision and oversight.
  • Events & Trade Shows
  • Advise and assist in planning and execution at selected trade shows, conferences, and industry events.
  • Advise and guide content and format of demos, presentations, and technical storytelling to public sector audiences.
  • Compliance & Standards
  • Represent public sector to corporate entities and C-level leaders with respect to FedRAMP, Impact Level, Protected B, CAC, FIPS, IPv6, VPATs, and other federal standards.
  • Represent/support sales on FedRAMP, Impact Level calls (DISA), and SSC (Canada) and coordinate with BMC and Helix InfoSec.
  • Drive product alignment under federal standards pressure.
  • Customer & Partner Engagement
  • Build/manage AWS Public Sector relationships, regular interface with BMC AWS corporate team and AWS corporate and public sector leaders
  • Directly support Canadian customers and integrate Team Canada into public sector flow in a administrative capacity
  • Monitor/manage SaaS technical communications and sales support processes; work with BMC Helix executive team to develop and improve processes and procedures for onboarding, ATO support, and documentation.
  • Maintain surveillance of industry trends and acquisition priorities and assist and guide sales teams in maneuvering to be relevant.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Professional Curiosity
  • Ability to consume, digest and comprehend vast amounts of complex interdisciplinary information and “boil it down” to its essence and importance; communicate same across the entire sales and corporate ecosystem as needed
  • 15+ years in technical sales, solution consulting, and public sector business development and sales – proposal development and management and large IT program capture is a plus.
  • Broad experience in International public relations or Broad experience across multi-cultural and varied operating environments, ability to work top to bottom across hierarchical organizations.
  • Expertise in BMC Helix solutions and US/Canada federal compliance standards.
  • Keen understanding of public sector missions, constraints, discriminators and pressures, from regulatory to budgetary to political, including partisan political elements
  • Ability to grasp and explain (in a context that maps to the customer needs) the “Why BMC Helix?” message to senior public sector leaders, likewise senior partner ecosystem leaders, frequently on-the-fly in executive conversations
  • Strong communication, leadership, and project management skills.
  • Storytelling and highly developed written and oral communication skills
  • Experience with AWS PubSec and SaaS onboarding.
  • Willingness to travel for events and customer engagement.
  • Strong and broad Technical and Engineering Background
  • Process and Detail Oriented
  • Tenacity and a “no surrender” mentality
  • Experience Public Sector enterprise business development, account-level sales and partner sales in the Public Sector
  • Govt Proposal Management and Procurement Experience

BMC Software maintains a strict policy of not requesting any form of payment in exchange for employment opportunities, upholding a fair and ethical hiring process.
The annual base salary range represents the low and high end of the BMC salary range for this position. Actual salaries depend on a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training, licensure, and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The range listed is just one component of BMC's employee compensation package. Other rewards may include a variable plan and country-specific benefits. At BMC, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range. This roles compensation includes a mix of base salary and variable pay. The base salary range is $144,500 - $195,500, with an On-Target Earnings (OTE) range of $289,000 - $391,000.
