Lead Product Manager – Mainframe
We are seeking an exceptional Lead Product Manager to lead our portfolio of mainframe software development tools specifically BMC AMI DevX. In this strategic position, you will drive product vision, strategy, and execution while serving as the crucial link between customer needs and technical implementation. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of mainframe software development at a time when modernization initiatives are transforming the industry
Here is how, through this exciting role, YOU will contribute to BMC's and your own success:
- Develop and execute a compelling product vision and roadmap aligned with corporate objectives and market demands
- Translate complex technical requirements into clear product specifications and user stories
- Conduct comprehensive market research to identify emerging trends and competitive positioning opportunities
- Partner with engineering teams to define, prioritize, and refine product requirements
- Leverage DevOps expertise to enhance product capabilities and streamline development workflows
- Analyze product performance metrics to drive continuous improvement
- Spearhead go-to-market strategies in collaboration with marketing and sales teams
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships to inform product decisions
To ensure you're set up for success, you will bring the following skillset & experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline or equivalent experience; MBA or advanced business training is a plus
- 8–10+ years of product management experience in enterprise software organizations, with recent involvement in mainframe-focused products or solutions
- Prior hands-on experience as a mainframe developer, with deep familiarity in z/OS, COBOL, PL/I, or other mainframe programming languages—essential for understanding developer workflows and tools
- Proven success in leading product strategy, launching enterprise-grade software, and driving sustained growth in technical product lines
- Recent experience working with AI technologies, particularly in the context of developer tools, automation, or intelligent systems within enterprise environments
- Strong grasp of modern software development practices, including SDLC, Agile, and DevOps, with the ability to bridge legacy systems and contemporary workflows
- Highly analytical and data-driven, with a track record of making informed decisions based on metrics and user feedback
- Professional certification in Product Management (e.g., Pragmatic Institute, AIPMM, or similar) preferred
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence across technical and business domains
- Comfortable working with globally distributed teams, including coordination with development teams in India
- Willingness and flexibility to align with North American business hours

Actual salaries depend on a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training, licensure, and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.
The range listed is just one component of BMC's employee compensation package. Other rewards may include a variable plan and country specific benefits.
At BMC, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at /near the top of the range. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $129,375 - $215,625
