Principal Product Manager ESM – North America
BMC Helix Enterprise Service Management offers SaaS solutions designed to elevate user experiences across lines of business through intelligent automation, unified workflows, and rapid customization. BMC has been named a leader in the Forrester Wave™: Enterprise Service Management, Q4 2023 report.
As a Principal Product Manager for Enterprise Service Management, you will conduct customer research, define and deliver capabilities to enterprises and organizations. A key focus area is applying generative AI to transform solutions in this space. You will work across multiple teams in the company to ensure that we have a competitive product strategy and a plan to deliver releases four times a year. Each day, you will work with an engineering team, designers, marketers and sales to build and deliver products that people and companies love. You will be charged with delivering and driving adoption of world-class cloud applications. You love making products that delight customers. You understand that great products balance simplicity and robust features to solve real world problems. Saying “no” is as important as adding new features. The successful candidate will have a global role either US remote or based in one of our North America offices.
Here is how, through this exciting role, YOU will contribute to BMC's and your own success:
- Accountable for delivering detailed product requirements for new and existing products based on subject matter expertise and deep understanding of the market from working closely with customers, analysts and business stakeholders
- Understands customer workflow, as it relates to the relevant products, at a very deep level to translate market requirements to Product Development and the value proposition to downstream functions (marketing, sales, operations)
- Interacts with the Product Development organization to translate product requirements into technical specifications
- Develops business cases for new product development and product enhancements
- Proactively identifies and champions new product opportunities. Manages the design, development, implementation and enhancement of new or existing products supporting organization and business line objectives
- Properly segments the market and creates specific product strategies and tactics to address each segment's needs and requirements
- Conducts competitive analysis and market assessment for establishing go-to-market strategies that capitalize on market trends, customer needs and competitive positioning
- Maintains a multi-year product strategy and establishes roadmaps for new products or product enhancements, including, developing new offerings, expanding on existing solutions, and leveraging existing products to build platform-based solutions
- Communicates product status and roadmap evolution to senior and executive management
- Builds effective relationships with sales, customers, partners, and internal departments
To ensure you're set up for success, you will bring the following skillset & experience:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- 12+ years Product Management experience working with a software engineering development team
- Experience in applying generative AI in enterprise applications
- History of delivering cloud applications and platform solutions
- Experience documenting user stories, requirements and design
- Experience working with UX teams designing features
- Excellent communication, presentation skills
- Ability to collaborate with and influence cross functional, global teams
Whilst these are nice to have, our team can help you develop in the following skills:
- Experience in the Procurement, Contract Lifecycle Management space
- HR Service Management, Facility Management or other Enterprise Service Management areas
- Experience in IT Service Management

Actual salaries depend on a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training, licensure, and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.
The range listed is just one component of BMC's employee compensation package. Other rewards may include a variable plan and country specific benefits.
At BMC, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at /near the top of the range. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $149,400 - $249,000
