Bon Secours Mercy Health Physicians-Youngstown is seeking a motivated and capable board certified or board eligible advanced heart failure and transplantation specialist to join the largest Heart and Vascular Institute in the region comprised of 1 advanced heart failure and pulmonary hypertension cardiologist, 9 general cardiologists, 3 interventional cardiologists, 3 electrophysiologists, 4 vascular surgeons and 3 cardiothoracic surgeons. The hospital is a Level I trauma center, certified stroke center and the only sepsis center of excellence in Ohio.
The heart failure program includes 1 nurse practitioner, 2 heart failure nurse coordinators also specializing in pulmonary hypertension, two infusion clinics that each include two RNs, and two heart failure nurse navigators.
The hospital has a rapidly growing CardioMEMS program and will be enrolling in the GUIDE-HF clinic trial. The hospital is a Shared Care site with regional transplantation and LVAD centers, interrogating and managing LVADs locally, and with a growing transplantation population.
The program meets qualifications for regional referral center status for pulmonary hypertension, offering metabolic stress testing and ergometric right heart catheterization.
The hospital offers 3 well-equipped cath labs, 2 EP labs, 1 vascular lab and a hybrid OR. Over the past few years greater than 1500 diagnostic procedures were performed annually. The hospital is equipped to perform high risk PCIs, mechanical support with Impella (CP and RP), plaque modification with Rotablador, Diamondback and Laser Atherectomy.
In the structural arena, > 200 TAVR procedures have been performed over the past three years. This is the only TAVR program locally and within one hour radius. More than 30 PFO closures have been performed over the past year.
The hospital has a robust research department including a statistician and 3 nurse coordinators. They are currently enrolling in 30-50 clinical trials. There is ample opportunity to engage in clinical research.
